Betty Mack Trail

Very fun for the XC rider that wouldn't a fun filled day of trail systems running through wetlands and thick forest. Its very easir to spend a whole day out there. One down side though, as of now there finishing construction so there might be lots of dead ends but theres plenty other trails to make up for that. Hill climbers you'll love this place!

OK...finally...found the trails as indicated on the maps! And I do know what Musquatch means...mud and mosquitos! AS for giving them 5 or even 4 stars...I don't know. Maybe 4. The ride was enjoyable but when you look at Bear brook or FOMBA...it doesn't compare. But for riding from my house...it's a great place to go and I will go back.

Bear Brook, FOMBA, Exeter, Mt. A in ME and Kingdom Trails in VT

Summary:
Depending on the time of year there can be lots of mud!Terrain for every ability. Mosquitoes get thick. Some great stone walls. Moose!

Recommended Route:
Junction Albuquerqe Hillcrest Litchfield. State forest. East. Construction has broken up continuous run from Litchfield to Londonderry. When you hit the road turn right. At culdesac trail is northeast <30 yards. Look for footpath it is there. The power lines are two minutes east. Continue east across power line and head into Betty Mack. Hours of muddy, buggy, rocky fun are before you.

Summary:
Nice trail system on Londonderry Conservation land. The trails are being maintained with biking in mind...please take care and don't litter. The trails are mostly doubletrack with some nice short climbs as well as short sections of rooty areas, rocky areas as well as some really fast sections. It has been a very dry summer, so the trails had very little water about. In a normal year, I could see VERY wet sections of trail here. Kudos to those that are doing the trail work, the bridges are nice! Great intermediate ride. Follow your front tire and ride all of it!

Recommended Route:
Park at the end of Hickory Hill Road. Head in..follow the orange trail (this is the Betty Mack memorial trail)and doing the Musquatch Loop (blue trail on map) and the overlook trail (yellow on map). Make up you own sequence. There are some additional trails off of tehse that are worth exploring. Don'tbe afraid to double back on some sections to extend your ride. Not too hard to put together an 8 mile ride.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
FOMBA single track, Mines Falls, Hampstead Conservation trails, Salem Town Forest.

Summary:
I'll tell you what, this place ROCKS. I've ridden lots of trails in the area (FOMBA, Bear Brook etc.) and this was by far the most fun I've had on two wheels in a long time.
Bring lots of extra chain lube, bug spray, and don't forget your fenders, becasue it is WET! Seriously, if you don't dig getting soaked don't ride here! But if you don't mind the water and lots of short but steep climbing this is a great ride. Make sure your drivetrain is in good condtion before you head out or you will chain-suck, I guarantee it!
