Light & Motion:

Two guys, a garage and a mission.

Many tinker in a garage, but only a few make it out. In 1989 L & M founders, Barrett Heywood and Michael Topolovac, started experimenting with underwater lighting systems. These dive enthusiasts were driven to build a vertically integrated manufacturing company where designers would create innovative world-class products.

From tiny garage to giant cannery.

A couple years later, we were shipping underwater video systems worldwide and had expanded into a 16,500 square foot, renovated sardine cannery overlooking the Monterey Bay. This one facility-located on historic Cannery Row-houses our CNC machine, molding, and assembly shops, and design offices. Tight integration of our Pro/E CAD tools and CNC mills allows for rapid prototyping and creates an environment that encourages a hands-on approach to design.

The dream continues...

Today, Light & Motion is a vertically integrated manufacturer of consumer products. We are passionate outdoor enthusiasts who have the experience to engineer great equipment. This ideal environment allows us to put our designs to the ultimate test. As our product line continues to expand our mission remains the same: To enhance the lives of our customers by our products and personal interactions.
