$1400.00 | | Purchased At: | EPIC CYCLES (black mountain check it out) | | Strengths: | okay first i need to tell you guys its the 03 version but the 03 team and 04 world cup are the same frame so no big. first its an extremely strong and well built frame (did you expect anything less its ironhorse). its also got a 1.5 headtube on the front of it so its extemely stiff and makes it almost indestructible. next the fsr four-bar linkage on this thing rocks it socks up every little bump and every huge hit you take with it once you get the progressive 5th element tuned to how you like it. and thats another great thing you get a 5th element thats all i need to say. and finally, some people might think its a bad thing, the 12 mm thru axel makes the rear as stiff and rigid as a board. the difference between this thru axel and quick release is night and day. also it comes with a totally bangin seatpost and headset (with reducer set incase you want to run a 1 1/8" steer tub) | | Weaknesses: | okay first its a tank. next is the price if your price wennie like me, but in my opinion you get what you pay for and you deffinatly get twice what you pay for with this frame. takes a few rides to dial in the 5th element but thats going to be the case no matter what frame you get. the iscg mounts are a little sinsative but thats okay cause e13 makes an iscg adapter so you can use it if you break one like i did. and the finall weakness is it only take 100mm (in length) bb cause its a race oriented dh frame. okay hope this helped you guys out | | Similar Products Used: | other sgs's and a santa cruz bulit. kona stinkyand coiler. | | Bike Setup: | 03 sgs team dh (04 world cup)frame, 04 marzocchi super t, single track rims laced to included rigle rear hub and some generic front 20mm hub, 02 hayes mag brakes (8" rotors) with goodridge metal braided lines, maxxis 2.5 minion f&r tires, sram pc70 cassett and pc 69 chain, xt derrailure and deore shifter, raceface evolve dh crankset, with e13 srs guide and 40t gear, 100mm truvative gigapipe dh bb, raceface diablous bar and stem, and finally odi ruffian lock on grips. total weight is 46 lbs and i am 6'1" 150lbs riding the medium sized (19") frame. | | Bottom Line: | awsome frame for the money and it will give you many highspeed descents and many garganchuan hucks through its life time. once tuned right the bike will fly like a bird when faced with a huge double or step down. i dont think it gets much better than this. i love the linkage and the rear shock and the way the bike performes. so i give the frame a thumbs up and i say go for it. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

E-13 link is bomber and 5th element...say no more. Frame angles make the bike very stable at high speeds and big drops. Fun bike to jump, rallied A-line, dirt merch and then ripped up Natural and DH course at whistler. Support is pretty good too. | | Weaknesses: | Phillips head screws for the replaceable derailleur hanger. this was not the smartest of ideas. One backed out on me and left me with a floppy hanger and drlr unit. | | Similar Products Used: | gspot, bullit, big hit dh | | Bike Setup: | lots of goodies, but who else really cares. | | Bottom Line: | Good solid bike. $500.00 | | Purchased At: | iron horse - crash replacement for 02 sgs | | Strengths: | rear shock, 1.5 headtube w/reducer, beefy all over, wide bb (makes a huge difference), e-thirteen linkage (beats the M1 hands down), the staff at Iron Horse | | Weaknesses: | none | | Similar Products Used: | m1, 02 sgs dh, Big hit DH Pro | | Bike Setup: | swirched the bits over from an 02 shs dh pro (just changed the spindle length in my Profile BB and switched the rim from my 02 over to the 165mm rear hub (comes with the frameset)). Frameset also comes with a Thomson post | | Bottom Line: | this is far and away the sweetest ride i've ever experienced. the 5th element feels bottomless, the wide bb gives a feeling of extra stability. This thing rails through corners and is perfectly balanced in the air.
The slightly shorter wheel base (shorter than the 02) makes this the ideal rig for hucking, and ideal for tight and twisty trails and race courses we tend to ride in the north east.
This is the third or fourth year of the sgs model, and they've got better every year. Chainstays and seat stays are a mile beefier than they were 2 years ago, and the geometry, while only slightly tweaked, makes a huge difference (center of gravity feels lower making for much better cornering - or maybe its the slightly shorter wheel base ... either way, the ride is superb)
I'm finishing at least a quartile higher in the Sport class on this ride (switched from the 02 version)
anyone who says this is a wannabe rig needs their head read - just because its the best value rig money can buy doesn't change the fact that it is an absolutely top of the line dh machine.
Big props to the guys at Iron Horse too - super responsive to any technical questions (see their dedicated Hcor.com forum). DH machines sold by guys who really know what DH is all about.
Outstanding is an understatement.
