I've ridden the thing for over three years now and have crashed countless times either commuting, on the trail, the occasional downhill, or light DJing. It just goes and goes. I love this bike. Also, the components on the stock set-up are more than adequate for my needs. | | Weaknesses: | At first I thought it was a little heavy compared to XC machines (yeah, I know...it's not a XC bike) and also thought it was a slow climber. As my skills and technique have improved, so has the ease in which it climbs. I twisted the front wheel first day I had it at the skatepark. My rear is a single speed DMR Revolver hub with a Sun Mammoth 36H Rim and super stout 4 cross twisted spokes (they don't even think about going out of true no matter what I do to them). My front wheel is a deore hub with a Sun Rhyno lite 36H rim with 3 cross twisted set up. I have a Paul Components Melvin chain tensioner to help me shift my 2 front gears. I also threw on some DMR MOTO RT tires for street and dirt. | | Bottom Line: | This bike Rocks!! It is the lightest and strongest freeride/dirt jump bike I've ridden (mine wieghs in @ 28lbs). It's tough, beefy, and takes my abuse with a big ear-to-ear smile. It doesn't climb as well as I'd like (but that could be just me) but the downhill runs are superb. Straight and true, this machine performs - rocks, roots and drops all seem to fade under the confidence-inspiring 21-inch frame.

Very nice handle bars, look super strong. As soon as i got this bike it was soooooooo easy to lift up and manual/cat walk. On my old Bigfoot, your arms get so sore from lifting up. This bike is super light(around 33lbs.). It improoved my bunny hopping sooo such. Hayes brakes are super smooth(no effort to stop fast). The marzocchi drop off is nice and smooth. If filled with air, it is hard to bottom. | | Weaknesses: | There are barley any weaknesses. The bike does all my everyday riding, occasional trail and -light- DH and is awesome for freeriding and DJ'ing which I really bought the bike for. Though after a while with them I feel awkward on smaller handlebars.

When peddle kicking I get some major frame creek from the rear disk brake mount, not to really worry about. Front derailleur is pretty weak, has its problems. i have had a couple of issues with chain suck so carry a tool so you can take off the rock ring to get chain out without bending it to crap..
tyres stick a lot better than i expected for factory issue rubber.. the only adjustments made was replacing the seat (i use this baby for everything & found the seat a bit nasty over long periods in saddle).. also added 3rd chain ring (44) up front & skinny tyres for road riding to work.. then chuck rock ring & fat bags back on for off-road.. all too easy..
i did a crap load of research & test rode at least 10 different bike b4 settling on dr ged.. for the $$ ged is the best spec'd HT around (2005), & i freakin love it.. good for single track, jumps, DH, won't win any XC titles on it but i did 05 EPIC on it no worries, hard to keep front wheel down on very steep climbs (good technique = fixed)..
ged is a great bike if you haven't got $98726 to spend & do a bit of everything.. this bike loves riding as much as i do, i can feel it.

It's light enough to ride xc and solid enough to throw downhill on tech descents with confidence. I've broken some bits but the core of the bike is tough. The package is great for the price and the bits that are cheap can be upgraded as you trash them. On the one hand this is a bike that you can just cruise along on, sitting upright behind the chopper wide bars. Then when you hit tight bends and berms it jumps to order with super fast handling. Downhill the Ged is a confidence inspiring ride and can be ridden hard. Minimal logos are a plus point and black is bad. Bontrager Big Earl components do the job very well. Gumbi tyres roll well and stick like sticky things. | | Weaknesses: | Bought in England this bike costs in pounds probably what it costs in dollars. Still it is cheap as chips.
Built to a price, some of the components died on me. Seat mount is single bolt and snapped on a heavy landing. Seat post QR washer compressed and had to be over tightened. 2 BB in 6 months( ISIS BB is generic crap). Paint is thin and just rubs off. | | Bike Setup: | Marzocchi 66RC 150mm replaced original 130mm Drop Off which I broke after falling on ice and cracking the brake caliper mount. Extra length of the 66 is fine and the adjustability is a great bonus. Salsa QR seat post clamp is great until it rains and it gets full of gritty mud. SKF BB. Burgtec flat pedals. | | Bottom Line: | I came to this bike after riding a xc hardtail. My confidence and skill has improved and I am trying more technical riding and trying to jump. it's a bomber of a bike that is hard to beat for the price. Spec can be upgraded and is woth it as the frame is great.

It's a really solid bike with looks that could kill. It can handle anything from DH to urban assault; a must for hardtail fans. I bought mine for a dirt cheap price and had it delivered to me within 3 days. It simply looks like it could survive a carpet bombing and handles amazingly well. Awesome frame, pretty nice components group, good urban/dirt jumping bike | | Weaknesses: | Not a fan of the hayes hydro disc brakes. They did put a nicer, longer travel fork on a "freeride" labeled bike. Other than that, the components group on the bike is nice, the wheelset is really the only place that i believe could be improved. Also, the frame is pretty light weight, yet still strong.
