they last along time out in the water and mud before they start to loos power. work realy well with the red coolstop pads | | Weaknesses: | stock pads blow, they wear out in afew weeks. takes a while to get the perfect settings but after you find them the brakes will stop on a dime | | Similar Products Used: | hayes hfx 9's. hmx 2's with 8 inch rotor. | | Bike Setup: | norco ryde with marzocchi DJ1. race face cranks, single track rear azonic with formula 20mm hub up front. | | Bottom Line: | great breaks wonce u get the right settings and pads. alot better than v's. defenitaly worth the money and they dont faid that much when wet and muddy. they realy suck when its below minus 5 or 6 though. i havnt done many big hills, just some decent ones at speed and from 60km to 0 it takes about 30-40 feet to stop if u realy come on to them.

They were my first set of discs, and I was pretty excited. I set them up according to the instructions and found they were really underpowered...my crappy Promax V's worked better!
I started to fiddle around with moving the outboard pad in really close to the rotor (this moves the whole caliper in, so watch that the inboard side doesn't end up in your spokes!) and then adjusting the inboard pad as per the instructions.
That seemed to work better. What did the trick was using a longer lever. I had short "one finger" type levers and they just didn't have the leverage.
I'd say that they're now on par with a decent set of V brakes.
If you don't mind experimenting and playing around, they're a great value....but saying that I'm saving up for a set of the 02 Avids with larger rotors. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

I can't do nose manuals anymore. | | Similar Products Used: | Parking lots on my freinds hayes, which are like sticking a stick through your spokes | | Bike Setup: | 99 stumpy comp, zocchi Bam 80 coil, truvativ stylo team, avid arch rival 40 rear brake, deore mech front, rhyno lite rims on xt discs rolling on dh frnt and semi slick rear tires | | Bottom Line: | I bought these cuz my vees wouldn't fit with my new dh tire on rhyno lite rims, and i didn't have enough yet for hydros. I put them on with a tiny bit of ghetto rigging and then i had to send in my fork and my old fork didn't have the right mounts so i only rode the discs like a wek, then I got them back on and got glue in the rotating cylinder after i tried to glue this bolt back on after the bolt got stripped out for no apparent reason, it just was. So now i have .05mm clearence on each side, so it rubs often. I dunno if i haven't had them long enough ( three to four weeks)to get broken in, but they just don't have any stopping power. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |
