Description:4 Racing Freeride / Downhill...... MOTO Lever with 4 piston caliper. This brake rocks ! The freeride is a cost sensitive alternative to the Mega powerful Downhill version with 205 mm rotor in front. This brake is very powerful and we strongly suggest to only use it with an equal strong fork. The new robust MOTO levers have split perches, on the fly reach adjust. Lots of extra fluid in the oversized reservoir.

Favorite Trail:any single-track
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $180.00
Purchased At:Elan Bike Shop
Strengths:This 4 piston brake in combination with 185 mm disc really rocks. A lever was faulty at purchase (dial button was stuck), but they replaced it in 5 minutes and no question asked.
Weaknesses:none so far
Similar Products Used:Hayes disc brakes oil/cable operated
Bike Setup:Trek VRX 400, Marzocchi Z1 FR 2003, Formula FR
Bottom Line:Plenty of power with solid modulation. Comparing to my previous Hayes the don't loose power at long/steep descends. No annoying squeaking.

Date Reviewed: August 2, 2003
Favorite Trail:Coed y Brenin
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:www.merlincycles.co.uk
Strengths:AWESOME POWER!! I went for the 185 on the front and its eyepopping! not as much modulation as the 165 on the rear however! Standard formula pads work great if not a little expensive! (although they do last a while) work excellently in all conditions!
Weaknesses:first front brake was delivered faulty, one phonecall to formula and a replacement was sent! excellent service. no other problems so far!
Similar Products Used:Formula MD-1 Cable discs (pile of shazz!! do not buy!)
Bike Setup:mavic rims, shimano hubs(ran out of money!), 4 year old claud butler cape wrath frame (still goin strong, no replacement b'coz i like it), rock shox psylo xc's on the front, Shimano drivetrain.
Bottom Line:If you want a maintenance free hydraulic disc brake with no squeeks or annoyances then get these! choose you disc size wisely however depending on your riding style! i have an extremely powerful 185mm front disc, i dred to think how strong the 205 is!
