Favorite Trail:Taylor
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Strengths:Comfy, strong
Weaknesses:Hot, makes you sweat heaps. No plastic padding. Smashed my knee into a concreate block thing and now one knee is twice as big as the other!!!
Similar Products Used:None
Bike Setup:Big Hit DH
Bottom Line:I really like these until the other day but I think I will be investing in something new after my incident with a concreate block the other day. Was very happy with them up until then

Bottom Line:this is a follow-up review

since last, i have had no troubles whatsoever with these pads! that was a while ago, but i still love them! i've only worn 'em about 5 times, but i have (intentionally!) smacked my leg on a few rails, logs etc and had no complaints at all with them! it is good to know also that CTR have great follow-up service and i will defintiely buy more CTR products in future!

GOOD ON YA GARY!

Date Reviewed: May 2, 2002
Favorite Trail:local jumps, trails and DH
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:LBS - but i know the CTR bloke
Strengths:COMFY! STRONG! QUALITY! VALUE! SECURE! (6 velcro straps) they are also made by a small company so they are aimed at quality not quantity, so what more could you want in a pad?
Weaknesses:-SWEATY!
-sorta scrunch up at the back but that's just the neoprene doing what it does
-don't strap up fully if you have big calves or thick, short lower legs BUT they still hold well
Similar Products Used:any other full neoprene pads on the market
Bike Setup:2002 ctr daredevil, 2001 rst 89mm forks, dodgy old stuff from old xc bike so parts'll gonna get upgraded soon! :)
Bottom Line:they are good coz i said so!
oh yeah, and coz they are made in Adelaide so i know if there are any hassles i can go straight to the CTR blokes instead of F%$#ing around with bike shops that take ages! they sweat heaps but you don't notice it as you ride and they are well-stitched. the padding is via 21mm neoprene so they are very light compared to others but work just as well (minus ventilation). they are full wrap-around and have ankle protection so they cover your leg VERY well. they are good for general abuse (i know plenty of BMXers that use em) and are mainly are designed for pedal injuries etc (note: DMR owners) and will NOT save your shins from a 2-inch-thick low branch (will any pad?).
Simply put, i suggest you get them if you want something that is comfortable, light, effective and easy to clean and use. mainly for slim-legged folk, but still good for anyone.
GO TO A SHOP AND TRY SOME - IF YOU LIKE EM, BUY 'EM!
