from Adelaide, South Australia Date Reviewed: June 18, 2008 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | Super Elliots, Adela | | Strengths: | None. It literally lacks physical strength. | | Weaknesses: | Single bolt holding saddle to the seat post snaps without warning. | | Bike Setup: | Giant Talon (19"), LX/Deore, Hayes Nine Brakes, RockShox Recon351, RhinoLite Rims, EA30 bars & seat post. | | Bottom Line: | The EA30 seat post is an accident waiting to happen. Mine came with the bike which I used mostly for commuting on sealed smooth roads into the city. The first bolt lasted ~14 months, the second bolt lasted ~2 months. This seat post cannot be recommended & should be recalled by the manufacturer. If I had the time I would pursue a claim against Easton for two accidents. I thought the first was just bad luck however, the second caused me to search for others experiences. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Mine was just squeaky and hard to adjust. | | Similar Products Used: | Sette 2 bolt for $22 - very pleased, has Thomson design at 1/3 the price | | Bike Setup: | Jamis Dakar XC - mostly stock | | Bottom Line: | Upgrade asap or you will be sorry. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Surprise, AZ, USA Date Reviewed: April 26, 2008 | | Favorite Trail: | SlickRock - Moab, UT | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | The only stength I found was that its color (black) matched the color of the bike! | | Weaknesses: | Constant adjustments, slippage, Single bolt, bolt breakage. | | Similar Products Used: | None | | Bike Setup: | Jamis DAKAR XLT 07 | | Bottom Line: | Unless it come with the bike...don't waste your money, time, and body parts! They changed the design for 2008...it uses TWO bolts. Maybe the second bolt is a backup after the first breaks??? | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Seat needs constant adjustment, and comes loose no matter how hard you tighten the bolts. Replace soon, but in the meantime, be sure to tighten the bolt before each ride! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Gold Coast Date Reviewed: February 27, 2008 | | Favorite Trail: | Nerang | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | None | | Weaknesses: | The seatpost! Absolute crap. For 2 months, every time i'd move the post would creak. I tightened it, un-tightened it. Then eventually figured it was the design. The bottom plate would slip in the grooves. Slowly over time they've worn down and now they just constantly slip and creak, annoying me contsantly | | Similar Products Used: | carbon giant and generic posts. | | Bike Setup: | Giant trance | | Bottom Line: | Throw it away. A $10 post from the bargain bin would be better. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Australia Date Reviewed: October 22, 2007 | | Favorite Trail: | Glenrock | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | Looks ok. | | Weaknesses: | It doesn't matter how i set this post up, the bolts snap in a matter of hours of riding. The first lasted a year but I've snapped five bolts in my last 6 rides. I've even used high tensile bolts that broke in the first half hour of riding. Very poor design. | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | This post comes close to having a dangerous design. I have the injuries to prove it. If you use this seatpost for a long time, be warned that eventually you will suffer an injury that severely damages your ability to sire grommets. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Duluth, MN Date Reviewed: August 31, 2007 | | Favorite Trail: | Any | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Purchased At: | OEM post on Jamis Dakota 29er | | Strengths: | The post looks OK in stealth black. | | Weaknesses: | In my experience, no matter how much you tighten the single seat clamp bolt, the seat will more than likely move on you if you come down on it hard. It has done this three times on me now; Twice during trail rides, once on the road. I am 220 lbs. | | Similar Products Used: | Titec, generic | | Bike Setup: | Shimano clipless pedals, Titec Hellbent 640mm bars with Specialized bar ends. Upgraded 203mm Avid front disk + caliper adaptor, PZ 130mm Carbon / Aluminum Stem, Sigma BC2006MHR, Trek aluminum back rack, Deore LX rear cassette. | | Bottom Line: | Probably works great for lighter riders, but I'm sick of having to loosen the bolt and readjust the seat when it gets hit hard. The seat never moved in 3 years on my generic Pacific mountain bike. The post is going in the spare pats bin and a Thompson Elite is replacing it.
P.S. I have tightened the post bolt progressively tighter each time it has happened and it makes no difference. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
