The plastic bash gard doesn't bend like the MRP aluminum one. I really like this product and don't understand the poor review above. I ride a lot and had no major problem with it.

Strengths:It looks nice on the bike and it's light...THE END!!
Weaknesses:1) Plastic!! These parts are weak and crack easily
    2) Noisy as all hell...yes, it is set up properly!
    3) Plastic!!!
    Similar Products Used:MRP World Cup
Bike Setup:04' Kona Stinky Dee-Lux, Marz' 888 RC, Race Face e-Type, Hadley Hubs/Sun Ringle Rims, Hayes HFX, Maxxis Minions
Bottom Line:Let me start by saying that I never, ever, ever had a mechanical problem with my MRP. I had owned this bike for about 2 years now (with the MRP) and some parts were crapping out, as parts will do. The MRP was a bit tweaked from encounters with tall rocks and I was going to be replacing the BB/cranks, so I thought I would go ahead and replace the chain guide as well.
Why not try something different? I see a lot of people sporting the e-13, it's is a bit cheeper , and it looks pimp... To hell with that crap! STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW WORKS!! I don't care what the pros ride. If they break it over the weekend or whatever, it does't matter, they get that stuff for free. We have to pay for it and $120 is still $120 if you're flushing it down the toilet!
All right, the bottom line is this. The E-13's are mostly plastic; at least the movin parts that are taking the abuse . Plastic and rocks, at any speed, don't mix. It has been about two months and this junker is just falling apart. There is not one piece of plastic that isn't broken, split, or chipped in some way. And, she is loud as all hell. I don't know what they mean by silent. I never heard a peep out of the MRP, but the e-13...let's just say you don't forget that it's there.
I'm not a monster (5'11/195lb) and I'm not hucking 30ft cliffs onto chunky rocks either. I ride hard, flow as best I can, and occasionally have an incident with a rock or two. In my opinion I'm not overly hard on my bike and there is no reason that this thing should be falling apart the way it is.
I don't care if e-13's waranty will cover any of it, and how good/bad there customer service is. I just don't want this thing anymore, and I doubt if I can get my money back (LOL).
Get this guide if: 1)You are rich and can afford to replace parts often 2)You only want to look good 3)You are concerned about weight??? 4)You only ride your bike to 7-11 for a Red Bull, and the biggest opsticle you encounter is a curb.

Strengths:None. This thing has been the biggest pain since I bought it. I cannot believe that the product reviews on this site are at all reflective of people who actually ride their bikes. They look more like sales people or company flunkies writin in.
Weaknesses:The plate bent the first ride. The chain fell off on almost every time I used it. And I say used in the past tense cause this piece of junk did not make it far. And the guys at the Cove know its' a piece of crap. They must get a super deal from the manufacturer. 'Cause that' the only reason to sell it
Similar Products Used:I tried Black Spire and it works just fine. A bit noisy butsolid as the rocks on the trail.
    Bike Setup:Kona Stinky
Bottom Line:Unless someone gives you this product as a gift, and that will tell you about yuor friendship, stay away from this
    piece of junk.

The plastic outer is heavier than a like aluminum one,
and plastic is plastic. Eventually it will break.

Strengths:This is the strongest chainguide on the market, Don't even question the strength of the lexan bashgaurd! This thing will take serious impacts, way better than any aluminum "MRP" bashgaurd on the market. And the guy who made the commit about the soft "plastic" guides for the chain, those are "Delron" and a perfect material for a chain to rub against! Not some soft rubber roller "mrp" that has to be replaced constantly! The boomarang is bomb proof, great strength. I have put some serios dents into this and it has stayed true! Friends all run this same chain guide and no one will run anything else.
Weaknesses:This product had to be slightly modified to fit my Banshee Morphine. The bottom boomarang had to be notched to fit the frame, but there was sufficient webbing on the boomarang to make me feal confident to take the dremel to it. In defence of E-13 there might have been a issue on the ISCG mounts welded wrong from Banshee, after sending photos to Banshee they agree that they might have welded the frame wrong.
Similar Products Used:MRP, good guide just don't hit anything!

Bottom Line:When I had problems with the fitment of my chainguide, I called E-13 and recieved some of the best customer service I've encountered in the industry.Trust me if you have ever dealt with product problems, it's hard to find a company willing to actually help you! They answered all my questions about fitment issues, e-mailed me ISCG mounts blueprints, photos of a morphine with the guide mounted, and took the time to make sure this product would work for me.So bottom line is I would reccomend no other chainguide on the market!

Bike Setup:bike doesnt matter but its the E13 STS model guide
Bottom Line:The guy below that gave it 1 chilli must not have rode a real Srs or sts guide because first of its not a thin plastic bash guard, it almost 1/2 inch thick lexan (bullet proof glass) and even if u do hit it hard enough it doesnt shatter it just dents in.

Its by far the strongest guide on the market rite now, it will last forever and keep doing what its suposed to do.

Strengths:strong, no other guide like it on the market, the took a risk using lexan and it worked. It very strong stuff. The guide plastic parts are soft, but they are located in hard to reach areas which makes the guide not get dammaged by obstacles.
Weaknesses:Price could be lower, but then they wouldn't make profit.

When you run your gears in the highest or lowest cogs, the chain gets caught and grabs the frame, I broke a chain doing this. Therefore, don't run the highest or lowest cogs which I don't really use. You shouldn't even need to put your chain on these certain cogs because this guide is meant for FR/URBAN/MX/DH/DJ. Last time I knew, none of these categories utilizes extreme climbing. So, if you use the smallest cog, beware of the chain catch.

Bottom Line:THE BEST guide out there, period. I had some slight trouble setting it up at first as far as chainline goes, but thats somewhat of a problem with the 01 minute mans to begin with.

It is THE ONLY guide that will hold up to sproket grinds and pedal feebles gone wrong. The bottem plates will wear down after probably 200 times grinding on them, but thats 199 times more than any other guide will! They are superdy duper replaceable as well, and there are plans for EVEN more DURABLE metal plates in the near future. Never once lost a chain.

On my bb7, its an absolut MUST. The bike has such a low bb hieght to begin with, that when it bottems into tech chutes loaded with logs, rocks, the works, itd be just plain scary to have any other bashring on there. The plastic will slide over most anything without jamming up, and still actually work!

cant see ever using something else in my future

    Strengths:awesome bashring
    unaffected by mud
Weaknesses:'01 model I have has sort of weak rollers. Fixed with '02 model.
the boomerang fits some frames better than others.
    Similar Products Used:MRP
    Bike Setup:Intense M-1
Bottom Line:I have what is probably the last '01 model sold in the US. It's the larger version and can take up to a 44t ring. I run a 42t. I have beat the piss out of the this guide. My M-1 is set up as low as possible and the bashring contacts the trail quite often. It has never failed due to impact. The only time it failed was on the first ride when a rock kicked up, cracked the lower roller and threw the chain. It has been flawless since being repaired.

The last guide you'll ever need.
