Description:Action-Tec ELS ti outer chainring

Submitted by PAT BEEZLEY a Weekend Warrior from LAKE FOREST, CA.
Date Reviewed: June 14, 2003
Favorite Trail:RAT TRAP SILVERADO, CA.
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $110.00
Purchased At:ACTION TEC
Strengths:EXCELLENT DURABLILITY, LIGHT WIEGHT, EXCELLENT MACHINE WORK,
Weaknesses:NO RINGS TO FIT NEW XTR CRANK SETS.
Similar Products Used:RACE FACE
Bike Setup:JUST BOLT ON AND ENJOY FOR MANY YEARS TO COME
Bottom Line:THE STRENGTH AND DURABLITY OF THESE CHAIN RINGS BY FAR OUT LAST ANY OTHER CHAIN RING THAT I HAVE EVER USED. I HAVE OVER 10 YEARS OF USE ON MY 48 TOOTH OUTER RING WHICH HAS NOW FOUND IT'S WAY ONTO 3 DIFFERENT BIKES THAT I HAVE OWNED OVER THE YEARS. THESE RINGS ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO SLAM INTO LOGS, ROCKS ECT.. AND SURVIVE THE HIT THAT WOULD DEMOLISH THE TEETH ON AN ALUMINUM CHAIN RING. THE INTIAL INVESTMEST IS WELL WORTH THE LONGEVITY OF THIS PRODUCT.

24-34-48. ya gotta spring for XTR frt.derailer with this combo.

Bottom Line:i was looking at a old picture the other day and realized
that i have had this ring on 3 bikes over a 10 year peroid!
i bent it once jumping a chain across a road,it was bent out
about 1 inch. i grabbed a rock and smashed it back.it went
right back in shape and shifted perfect. after puverizing
rocks with this thing for all this time the teeth are
hardley worn. who needs a rock ring!

Date Reviewed: September 9, 2000
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Revolution Cycles(Wash,DC)
Strengths:Darn light, Long wear life, Easily bended(fixable), Won't rust
Weaknesses:No shift ramps, Easily bendable
Similar Products Used:Shimano, Real
Bike Setup:Merlin XLM, Swiss/French Wheels, American Fork
Bottom Line:If you don't mind sacrificing a little performance for a little wieght savings, they work reasonably well. I would still recommend Real chainrings over all others, mainly because they're well ramped.
