from England Date Reviewed: August 4, 2002 | | Favorite Trail: | Helly Hanson V-Trail, Scotland | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | Cheap, Reliable, | | Weaknesses: | A tad heavy | | Similar Products Used: | Alivio, LX, XTR | | Bike Setup: | GT Arrowhead FS. Got a Voodoo Bakka now. | | Bottom Line: | Lasted well. I used it over tough cross country courses. It lasted very well. The shifters are exellent. The rear mech was good. The hubs broke quite quickly but the rest of the kit lasted well. My new XTR kit is much lighter and faster, but if you set up your STX kit well it will wear well and work well.
I would advise a commutor or occassional cross country rider to get this. Its good for "hardcore" bikes as if you break it replacements are cheap and easy to get hold of. Its a bit on the heavy side for serious XC riders, but still ok.
Quality kit though.
