$575.00 | | Purchased At: | fournales france. | | Strengths: | The product i have is the carbon legged fournales cobra. Its strengths 1, insanely light weight, 2,very stiff 3,seems quite strong, but wouldnt freeride or dirt jump ewith them but then again they weren't designed for that anyway. 4,excellent steering precision, 5,very good performance, plush and j shaped path of travel means bumps are swallowed without diving. 6,Radical looks. these will get you noticed, guaranteed 7. Some of the best build quality i have ever seen on linkage forks, the cnc milling on this fork makes me weep its that good. what seems chunky and overbuilt turns out to be hollowed out when you flip it. 1300g in weight . need i say more. 8. Very little bob when climbing. 6. steering angle / rake doesnt suddenly change as fork compresses. | | Weaknesses: | 1.Finding a set which is the right size for your headtube at a reasonable price.
2.The j shaped path of travel is an acquired taste, which splits opinion and can make very tight corners taken at speed heart stopping if your'e not fully focused. I've used vectors for years so i don't notice it at all.
3.Product service/ back up may be a problem in your country, i will have to correspond directly with the manufacturer in france
4.They attract too much attention, you cannot , will not leave your bike unattended no matter what locks you have. Also when you have these forks you have to perform well as everybody will be watching you, no more bailng in the middle of a climb, or holding the rear the forks look professional and so must you....
5.Linkage fork haters will hate you because these forks are that good and they know it!
6.In ability to adjust compressoi/ rebound damping separately
7. lightweight means the front end of your bike will lift easily on steep climbs which isn't really a problem but will be noticed if you have changed from a heavier set up. | | Similar Products Used: | givin vector 2 with risse genesis upgrade the ubiquitous sids ( good fork no character!)
| | Bike Setup: | proflex xpx (special limited edition 856) , ritchey carbon bars, seatpost, fizik gobi saddle, xtr v brakes ( yep still got em) with mavic crossmax xl wheels with ceramic rims, continental supersonic tubes and twister tyres, hope headset, xt chainset/ bb,rear cassette , f and r mechs, sram chain, risse astro 5 rear shock.Oh and not forgetting the fournales fork.weight just under 24Ibs for a way large frame (21.5 inch frrame) | | Bottom Line: | These are not the best fork out there but for cross country or fast trail riding they are amongst the best in term of their weight/ performance ratio.
If you are into the whole linkage thing then i recommend them, everyone else try bfore you buy if possible as they are very different to telescopic forks
The value rating is dependant really on waht you paid as long as it wasn't the original price at 900 euro then you are onto a winner. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$200.00 | | Purchased At: | wooly hat shop | | Strengths: | its a good afordable fork with easily ajustable rebound nd travel. its not to heavy and has prooved reliable all the time i have used it. it also has a lot of mud clearance around the tyre. its also very rigid | | Weaknesses: | it feels a bit like riding on a sponge, rebound is slow even when set to its fastest and it dives considerably under braking. it also pogosticks a lot. this could be because im quite a heavy rider but i still havent found a way of getting the fork hard enough yet still keeping its shockobsorbing qualities. | | Similar Products Used: | rst 381, judy xc and judy races | | Bike Setup: | fort 7005 with LX group. magura juli disks and rockshox judy sl fork | | Bottom Line: | its a good fork for a lighter rider looking for a decent amount of travel, lowish weight and reliability. however it you are heavier then it can be a bit of a pain to set up and may not deliver the ride qualities that you want exactly. still however good value and i dont regret my purshase. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$875.00 | | Purchased At: | Procyclery | | Strengths: | Light weight. Lateral stiffness. Excellent handling ability. Works well out of the saddle. Soaks up everthing. Cool looks. Shock holds air well. Great match with air shock in rear. Avant Garde. | | Weaknesses: | shock should be inverted because Dirt and dust can settle on top o ring and schrader valve is dificult to get to. | | Similar Products Used: | I've had virtually every brand name high end cross country fork. | | Bike Setup: | Ventana el Feugo, XTR, Hayes Hydrolics. 23.5lbs | | Bottom Line: | Well its as light as any light weight Cross country fork, yet its infinitly stiffer, better designed and looks far better. This fork is incredible. Just point it, and it does the work. Anything the trail dishes out it can take it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$900.00 | | Strengths: | Rides over roots and smaller stones like a blast. A perfect x-country fork. Stiff and light(app. 1300gr+) | | Weaknesses: | Adds too much on top of headset. Makes the stem ride high. Hard to make the rebound slow enough. | | Similar Products Used: | Best forks from RS, Manitou and Cannondale. | | Bike Setup: | Seven Sola Ti/Carbon, all tune, Hope Mini, Bebop, SRAM. 19,3 lbs. | | Bottom Line: | I can not deside if this fork in preatty or ugly. And every once in a while I like to get the new SID Carbon. Only to realize that I can save that cash after riding this Look fork. It rides very smoth and hardly is affected by a standing rider. Its the perfect fork for fire road and smother single track. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$700.00 | | Purchased At: | Bike Treks UK | | Strengths: | I have the Look Fornales Forks: Excellent traking, stiffness and constant trail so the bike remains stable whatever you are riding. The forks ride up and over rocks far better than teles because the sweeping action handles non axial loads far better. Beautifully engineered. Oil lubrication ports. Light and looks great if you pardon the pun. | | Weaknesses: | These are the best forks I have used but to be picky, the bottom bearing oil port would be better on top of the bearing out of the way of the mud. The bracing for the carbon legs at the main bearing allows some rotation of the legs which results in a small amount of play in the steering from new, but the steering is in any event much better than tele forks. The air shock has some stiction and is a little rough on fast ripple bumps. | | Similar Products Used: | Pace, Manitou, Rockshox. | | Bike Setup: | Lightspeed Softtail | | Bottom Line: | I always thought linkage forks were a good idea if they were properly engineered. Look Fornales have sorted the engineering and they have done so with a remarkably light weight of 2.5LBs the same as the SID Race. They are exceptional for cross country riding and can handle the melon sized boulders we get in the Lake District. I use the powerful hope Enduro disks brakes and the forks do not twist under braking at all even when riding transitions. Fournales tell me they have tested these on a tandem so they should be strong. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$800.00 | | Purchased At: | TRANSA Veloladen Basel | | Strengths: | Superb finish, Grease/Oilports, STIFFFFFFF, SMOOOOTH and no brakepats rubbing that frontwheel while sprinting out of the saddle. | | Weaknesses: | Price and it kind of dives under you when you're riding steep drops but you get used to it (comes with any paralellogram fork) | | Similar Products Used: | Girvin K2, AMP and a whole lot of these regular suspensionsticks | | Bike Setup: | MOOTS YBB with XTR, AVID, CHRIS KING BONTRAGER RACELITE WHEELS | | Bottom Line: | There's not much to say but "TRY TO CATCH IFF YOU CAN I'M GOIN' 'ROUND" Oh and I almost forgot to mention the absolut first class service the swiss distributer is offering - upgradet to the new bearings after 1 year use, including some racing, for FFREEEE !!!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Date Reviewed: October 4, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | marseille cassis classic | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Purchased At: | fournales-look | | Strengths: | excellent fork overall - extremelly well designed cinematics - lightweight - cool looking - made in france by the inventor of oleopneumatic suspension and aerospace genius JP FOURNALES - carbon legs now available | | Weaknesses: | mmmmmh, let's see......will kill the competition when price go down. makes people leave their wives!! | | Similar Products Used: | never used any other parallelogram fork before | | Bike Setup: | sunn team racing bike [but don't tell them] and v calipers. the disk version is sweeeeet.
| | Bottom Line: | go for it! imported by veltec in the US this fork should attract the racers in search of high end performance and those who are fed up with those blue forks!! I actually helped the engineers develop this jewel a few years ago, but racing for a big ass team prevented me to continue racing on it. now I live/race in the US and am thinking on racing on it here. a few changes have occured and the fork has been perfected to fit any riding position [stem angle]. what can I say? oh yeah, in malibu, the duuuuuuuude ordered one. no commnent. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from France Date Reviewed: December 23, 1998 | | Bottom Line: | Do you know this fork ? I have it since 3 months (previous i had a Judy XC and a Sunn Chaos 2). This fork is really the better fork i tried, much better the SID, very light (1,3 Kg = 2,6 Pounds), very adaptable with a pump, really simple to maintain. In France, it costs 900$. | Overall Rating: |
