Favorite Trail:#31 - The Beast - Killington Resort
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $350.00
    Purchased At:Cambria Bikes
    Strengths:Sweet looking.
Weaknesses:Within an hour of my first ride with these puppies, I took a sharp corner, kicked up a stone, and it broke the spoke at the nipple and put a flatspot the size of a 50 cent piece on the rear wheel. End my experience with these, enter Bombshells!!
Similar Products Used:Bombshell Fat Daddy, Sun Big Fat Mammoth
Bike Setup:SGS Team, Jr. T, Azonic, Race Face, XTR, Hayes, Bombshell, MRP, Progressive 5th
Bottom Line:I wouldn't spend another penny on Atom Labs. Bombshell so far is the only way to go with DH wheels. Definetly not as strong as they are made out to be!

Strengths:INSANELY STRONG.. I USED TO LAND CROOKED OFF LIKE 14 FOOTERS AND I WEIGH 170
Weaknesses:Buy a spoke tool cause it needs adjusting often or the spokes get loose. although wheel is super hard to bend.
Bottom Line:SICK WHEELSET just needs work maintaining but damn well worth the effort

Strengths:ooowee! this wheelset is strong. Ive been doing mass urbin hucks to flat (3-9ft)no prob! I bought the bike used with the wheel set. The berrings went bad , so I emailed the company and they sent me new berrings out of good faith. super cool! Rims are tough, Hubs make perfect sense.
    Weaknesses:nothing zip ziltch

Bike Setup:Dirt works dorado chris king romic

Weaknesses:Even laced to a hadley i now have multipul flatspots and bulges!
    Similar Products Used:Rhyno lite
    Bike Setup:Azonic Eliminator
Bottom Line:Rhyno lites hold up way better the walls on these are to high so it is really easy to flat spot

Strengths:Burly rim, stays true, tough as hell. I dented the rim in a few spots after a flat and the rim stayed true
Weaknesses:The hub!!! Freehub locked up and replacing isn't working out. Getting the freehub off took three guys torquing on it.
    Similar Products Used:Mavic 321D
Bike Setup:Bullit, 888R, Hayes Mag, Intense and Maxxis tires...
Bottom Line:Build up a Hadley and use the rim as it is indestructable but their rear hubs suck!!!

Strengths:strong, no flatspots no need to true,
Weaknesses:some say heavy, if you want strenght you normally have to pay for it (in weight)
Similar Products Used:mavics, crap that comes on cheap bikes
    Bike Setup:toy 3, 03 z1s qr20, 26" pimps, hope bulbs, blickspire bits, m4 disks
Bottom Line:i have 3 of them (one 32 hole left over because i changed to 36 hole in the back) and i land jumps/drops like crap and they are still going strong. o yeah dont use them with vs or the nice gloss black will come off doubt it damages it though

    Favorite Trail:St. Louis Heights
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $150.00
    Purchased At:???????
Strengths:These are cheap. Yup that is about the only thing that is strong.
Weaknesses:After about 5 runs down the course they sh*t the bed. WEAK!!!!!
Similar Products Used:Intense Mag-30, Mavic 321, Sun Double Wides, Tioga DH.
Bike Setup:2003 Wade Simmons RM7, Mr. T, Hayes, Race Face cranks, MRP guide, & MAVIC 321 now.
Bottom Line:THE TRAIL GIMPS ARE THE WORST RIM I EVER USED. I had a set of Rhyno Lites that held up longer. The rims now have a huge bulge along with a crack on both sides of the rim. The bottom line is that there are much better built rims on the market. The Double Wides are the only rims that havn't been untrue or have any flat spots, The intense Mag-30 only needed to be trued once so far. Spend a little extra money any get something good and proven. I gave them 3 chilis for value cause they are cheaper than most rims, and 1 chili cause they are pieces of sh*t.

Strengths:FREEKIN AWSOME!!BOINT BLANK!!SHUT UP,'NUFF SAID!!!They hold up to ME!I don't own a car and ride everywhere. They era by far the best and toughest rims I've ridden on.The fact that they're bad ass nlack is cool too,but realy they are just MAD FUNCTIONAL.If you are looking for a great heavy duty rim that does more than cross through..'COM GET SOME!!If you're looking for a rim a bit lighter, suggest you try the dhr..Those are cool also, but not wide enough..race thing ,I guess.DIG THIS....They also say "TRAIL PIMP",check it out!!!PEACE
Weaknesses:The fact that the rest of my bike may not hold up pass these things....but hey.
    Similar Products Used:Cross Max,SPINERGY,BONTRAGER..blah,blah,blah...CRAP,crap,crap.
Bike Setup:Ellsworth ID,Z1freeride,chris king steelhs,ea50 bar, avid ballbearing disk f/r:get the full metal jacket for these things and different pads and they'll wrk great, ultimate levers,dt spokes, stealth f/r hubs, avid flack jacet cbls..etc
Bottom Line:get the rims, set up w/your choice of hubs and get dt spokes and all is well.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $350.00
    Purchased At:beyondbikes.com in SD
Strengths:These wheels are seriously strong. They come in 36 hole. have a really tall/wide profile. Work great for DH or Freeride. They're stout on even the biggest hits. Way cheaper than alternative wheelsets of the same strength.
Weaknesses:They don't have machined sidewalls, (bummer for the V-brake guys)and they don't have eyelets on the trailpimps.
Similar Products Used:Rhino lites, Double wides, 321 mavics, and intense mag 30's
Bike Setup:Ellsworth joker with a junior t 03, and trailpimps on the free hub that came with the fork from beyondbikes.com, and xt components with hayes & misc. Azonic and Raceface that i had already.
Bottom Line:I had these wheels built by hand because i tend to wreck wheels, specifically prebuilt stuff. Heavy duty drops and downhill riding have yet to affect my A-Lab Trailpimp wheel set. Paying a little more $$ for some quality handbuilt wheels is where its at. The wheel builder at beyondbikes dialed these in perfect for taking heavy abuse, and Atomlab built some seriously "tough as hell" rims that are stout enough to handle it all...

Strengths:Look awesome! very strong, great for riders that don't land straight when jumping. "Tough as HELL" just like they say. would rec. over mavics for cost
Weaknesses:When I received them they were square but I Know how to true rims and they came out fine" working at the bike shop helps" would strongly rec. order rims and biuld with dt spokes and fav. hubs
    Similar Products Used:all kinds
    Bike Setup:Stink Primo w/ z1 20mm R/F downhill crank xt/xtr hayes purple freeride discs
Bottom Line:tight on money and have a good bike shop rim set would be a good investment, if you can afford custom wheelset get rims and hubs or rims and custom hubs.

Weaknesses:CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! i just have the rear trailpimp. i broke the rear hub and sent it back to atomlab because they said they woulf fix it for me free of charge. two weeks went by and i heard nothing so i called them. they said that they had forgotten to order the replacement parts. two more weeks went by. i called them again...they had just received the parts. they said that i would get an email when it was sent to me. a week went by without any email. i called them again. they were waiting for the shipping guy to package it. another week went by...i was getting pissed. i called them again. they said that they would get ti it that same day. another week went by...i called again! guess what?!! they said that they lost the wheel! i was pissed!!! i called the manager and explained everything. he said that they would send me a new wheel. that made me happy...temporarily. a week went by...no wheel yet. i called again...they didnt send it yet. finally ten days later i received the damn wheel!!!!!!!!!!

Bike Setup:2002 Cove g-spot, shiver sc, azonic 454 cranks/pedals, race face stem/headset, FSA bar, nokian gazzaloddi tires, avid 8in. mechanical disks
Bottom Line:everybody breaks stuff so i was not upset about the quality of atomlabs wheels. they are strong wheels that take everything that you could imagine. atomlabs products are top notch in terms of quality, durability, and design but the customer service is the worst that i have ever dealt with. i would advise anyone that is interested in their products to choose another company to deal with. if you do choose atomlab, just hope that they never break. if they do break, fix it yourself. their employees are smoking too much pot out there in california. 5 flamin' terds for quality of product. 1 flamin' terd for poor customer service

Strengths:Great rim deep and stong, good build, excellent strong hubs, and have got to be the best price around for wheels of this quility, can get 24" option as well, and comes with rim tape.
Weaknesses:Bit to thin as i had double wides, but deep enough to put up with.
Similar Products Used:double wides on hope bulbs
Bike Setup:specialized big hit, monster T's, 24/7 cranks, mrp, tioga, hope brakes.
Bottom Line:these wheels are great and excellent value for money compared to other's, good and stong rims which are good for DH and FR. The front hub is nice and beefy, but the back up quite thin but tough.

Submitted by Todd a Downhiller from College Station, TX
    Date Reviewed: May 14, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $240.00
    Purchased At:AtomLab
Strengths:Looks like a really tough wheelset. The rim is rather tall and could take a beating.
Weaknesses:I broke the cassette hub body after only two hours of riding. The biggest weakness is AtomLab customer service. I ordered my wheelset as QR front and rear. They arrived as a 20mm front hub and the correct rear. The front hub was damaged due to improper packaging (the hub was poking out of the box). They were supposed to ship the correct wheel to replace the front--one week went by. When riding, I broke the rear hub. They were supposed to send two new wheels--two more weeks went by. I called and said I wanted to get a refund--two weeks went by.
Similar Products Used:Hope Big'un hubs on Sun Ringle Singlewide rims, XT disc hubs on OEM Sun Ringle Ditchwitch rims.
Bike Setup:2001 Kona Roast--Profile racing chromolly cranks, FSA pig DH headset, XT der's, stock components.
Bottom Line:This trend is unacceptable to me. I understand that small businesses cannont please everyone, but the service I received was sub par. The products that AtomLab makes look and probably are really tough. Realize though that a product (and warranty) is only as good as the service (and thus the company) behind it.
