Summary:
I agree with previous comments about washout and also motos. Good ride if you want to do a quick up and down fast ride.

Recommended Route:
Park at Gilbert School. Either start up dirt road next to school and follow up to to of Gilbert Mountain or start single track right away and go clockwise up to top of mountain and back down again.

Summary:
A few years back this course was pretty challenging. Coming home after several years I checked it out and much of the original trail is badly washed out. HOWEVER, there are several new single track trails with paper route signs still occasionally seen.
The log roads are pretty rocky, but are rideable (especially downhill). The singletrack is tricky with tight turns around trees, roots, and rocks, but it is a lot of fun.
The trail seems poorly groomed and seems to be forgotten, but if you have some time and don't mind hopping off of your bike occasionally to get around obstacles, you might be amazed at what you found.
I found myself on a pretty long and steep downhill that put me on a road just off of Rt 8 3 miles north of Winsted and I had to ride back in.

Recommended Route:
There were once route signs for the race, but some signs are gone. Direction of travel is not set nor can I recommend a route.

Burr Pond is a short burst with some real tricky sections.
