Very hilly with fantastically maintained switchbacks. The are acoule trials sections but most is realatively smooth singletrack. Good orientation skills are a must. maps are sometimes available at picnic area near parking.

Summary:
A little bit of everyting here. Great place to learn to ride switch backs. That unamed road is Gungy. Best place to park is about a 1/4 mile past powerlines. Go in the summer and stop at the creamery on the way out.

Recommended Route:
Ride anything but orange and red are my favorite two. There are also a few good drops and roll-ins here. Word of warning in the spring do not attempt to cross the stream on powerline trail !!!on or off the bike!!! the bottom is often a bog and you will sink. I sunk to my waste in one step. The bridges in this same area have exposed nails watch your tires closely.

Summary:
I grew up about 5 miles from this trail and was very surprised by this network of trails last summer. Very rocky but lots to ride. Now I know where all the rocks of Georgia went to... Hartman's ! I rode the week of July 4th and you had to constantly keep moving or the horsefiles would snack heavily on you. Other than that I would highly reccommend this diverse network of trails,, I would rate the degree of difficulty intermediate to advanced.

Recommended Route:
Anywhere the bike will take you, must have good directional skills, trails outside of the Hartman reserve (logging roads) not marked.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Stone's Ranch Military Reserve if you can outpace the Humvees ! (I wouldn't, I got caught)

Summary:
This park has some excellent mountain biking trails, that are well marked, mapped and maintained.
Mostly moderately rocky singletrack, with some technical climbs, technical flat sections, one sick downhill and lots of
switchbacks. Its about the size of gay city, with about 8 miles of trails if you loop them all together. Check this place

Summary:
The park is well maintained and clearly marked. While maps are not always available, as long as you remember the top marker of a double colored marker points in the direction of the trail, you will be okay. Most trails lead back to the "schoolhouse".

Recommended Route:
Take the Red Trail from the "schoolhouse" until it becomes the Orange Trail then follow it back to the schoolhouse. The ride is only ~4-5 miles but there are some technical parts that make it interesting.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Park Road on south side of Grassy Hill Road. Good Hill climbs and fun descents.

Summary:
This is my get-out-of-the-house ride when i have a few hours free. It isnt a long enough trail to keep me occupied for long, but there is some decently difficult terrain and enough mishmoshed trails to make each trip a little different. Tip: Dont spend too much time on your bike on the ridges on the powerline road. When the wires come too close you can get a painful shock from the electromagnetic field that the wires create. Also: Take the road up the really big hill with the switchback until you get to a crossection between the road and the blue trail. Take the blue downhill at a high speed, and wear a helmet. It's a blast!

Recommended Route:
A good ride is to take take the road to the "schoolhouse", then take the road over a small ridge and then up a gigantic hill, changing over to orange at the end of the switchback. Follow the orange uphill, then a slight downhill and then a terrible climb up a rocky slope. After that, its easy going. Follow orange across the powerlines until you intersect with the road again. On the road find the red trail and take that up over turtle rock, nice ride! If you follow the powerline road you will end up in nehantic state forest (the salem/east lyme half) Not a bad day ride if you're up for it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Pleasent Valley (behind lyme school) Whippoorwhil woods. Top of Library Lane in Old Lyme (2mi. run, some cool sights/technical stuff)
