Ridden Trail: Once a year

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is one of my favorite trails in the country. Boyne offers beautiful scenery, great terrain, fast flowing single track and some good climbs. Definitely something for all kinds of riders. I ride boyne on a hard tail but I think an XC bike would be optimal. Please note, I am not refering to the down hill trails on this review. I am surprised that this is rated lower than Shingle Mill. Boyne offers a lot more designed MTB single track than shingle mill. Here is the link to the website: http://www.boyne.com/Summer/Biking.html Recommended Route: First word of caution: There are at least 3 different maps and none of them seem to jive. Map 1 is on the web site I list above. Map 2 can be obtained by the bike rental folks. And map 3 is posted throughout the trail network. My recommendation is to park at the tennis courts and try to follow the blue trails as much as possible. They all intersect at various points. The blue seems to have the best flow. Red and green seem to die at certain sections. White will mysteriously appear here and there. The flow works out something like pancake, littlehammer, sweep, ridgeline, outback, powerline and then shred. Take Dan's detour. The trail will widen out to a jeep or XC skiing trail. You will see a building across the road and sometimes there is a sign telling you to go left across the road. Instead, follow the wide trail up and to the right. This will lead you to a network of trails up to the top of mountain. When you finally break out to the road on top of the mountain and near the golf course you will see a blue trail directly across the road. Instead, follow the road to the left and find superbowl. Then you can work your way back down. Other recommended trails in the same area: Shingle Mill-fun but straight and remote

Cross Country Rider Summary: Great set of trails with a mix of climbing, some technical decents and fast switchbacks. A bit sandy in spots so make sure you have the right tire/air pressure going in. Personally I would like to see a few more technical sections but we are in Michigan. Nice job keeping the trails up.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Nice ride. It is set up as a climb and a then short downhill. Climb has some nice fast sections, but the return is too short. No obstacles except for sand. Well marked, red tags is what I followed. Arriving up top is a rush, be sure to ride around there. Recommended Route: I have only ridden this once, started at the tennis courts and followed the bike signs. Believe red is the best ride. Fool around up top. Other recommended trails in the same area: Avalanche Mountain, Kipp Rd., Shingle Mill

Downhiller Summary: I just moved to the area at the end of the summer. Only got to ride the hill about 5 weekends. I thought the runs were pretty good, especially since I heard this was the first season that they have done the bike downhill stuff. Only a few things that a hardtail couldn't handle, but a full suspension was the ride of choice. Definitely looking forward to seeing what they put up next year. Nice runs.

Racer Summary: Fun XC trails and ski lift access for downhilling. trail isn't marked too well so you'll definitly be doing some navigation if its your first time. The DH trail is really nice and takes around +/-3mins depending on speed. The DH trail that is to the right of disciples warming house (slightly down the embanked part) is a steep one and it's not ridden too much but is a blast and has some nice drops and off camber material. Definitly not for the fait of heart, and its nearly impossible to walk down so be careful if youre new to downhilling. The 2nd downhill is more ridden and is very clean. Its to the right of Disciples warming house and the trail starts inbetween two ski lifts right there. www.sicklines.com has video footage of the downhill. Recommended Route: For XC start behind the tennis courts
For DH , (the lift is $5 and is open friday/saturday from 5pm -10pm)
see www.sicklines.com for a videos of the downhill Other recommended trails in the same area: Poto, Ft. Custer, Yankee Springs
