    Date Reviewed: April 29, 2008
    Favoriate Trail:Black Rock Freeride Area
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $120.00
    Purchased At:Santiam Bikes
    Strengths:-Good amount of ventilation
    -Light
    -Stiff for it's weight
    -Visibility
    -Fit
    -Durability
    -Removable/replaceable/washable padding
Weaknesses:-Visor did crack in middle attachment on small wreck, but didn't come off
Similar Products Used:Giro Mad Max II
Bike Setup:'08 Specialized SX Trail frame,DEEMAX wheels, '05 Marzocchi 66RC, Juicy 7's, Saint Cranks, XO rear X7 front, Deity Bar/Stem, Maxxis Minion 2.5F front and rear
Bottom Line:Bought the remedy to replace my aging Mad Max II. Worked flawlessly for the last six months, taking small hits from sticks/branches here and there, with the occasional digger crash. Had several wrecks falling directly to my head; one off a log, the other off of an elevated ladder, both of which the helmet came out unscathed, and saving me from significant pain. My latest crash was off of and onto elevated ladder stunts, which ended up destroying my helmet. I impacted face first into the wood landing, immediately going unconscious, and ended up going to the hospital. THIS HELMET SAVED MY LIFE! Inspection of the helmet shows a missing visor, a chunk missing from the faceguard vent spaces, a deep fracture through the right visor hole, a deep fracture through the middle visor tension hole, and multiple small cracks in shell material. I fully endorse this helmet and will also be writing a personal thank you to Giro for making a safe and strong product.

Strengths:Light, vents well, looks tight, fits like no other helmet, great padding. Vision is not obstructed at all, works with my huge Blur B1 goggles.
Weaknesses:I have the matte black finish, which shows wear. You hit a branch with your helmet and it will scratch. I dont mind but if your that kind of person dont get a matte finish.

It has a great feild of vision the mouth piece does not effect your viewing at all, I dont even notice it. This is a great helmet I would buy it again.

    Purchased At:Cyclon Cycle Industries (CCI)

Bike Setup:03 Stinky Primo, RS Domain 318, Holzfeller crank, Juicy 7.
Bottom Line:This is such an incredible helmet. It looks so cool. And it also looks fast even sitting on the floor. It's weight is incredible. When I first held it, I thought it was the CF version but my shop guy told me it is the normal one. You get great vision. It is as if you are not wearing a helmet. The pads are can be taken off to wash so it doesn't stink. MBACTION magazine rated it 1st in a full-face shootout with FOX, AXO, 661, Specialized and Troy Lee Designs. Guys, get this one. And it's relatively cheap.

Strengths:Light and well vented.... looks great and fits nice and snug. I almost dont want 2 take it off.
Weaknesses:I have the MateBlack finish.... dont pick this color if your worried about Scratches.... any little thing puts a scratch in it.
Similar Products Used:KnuckleBone full face.... (my KnuckleBone was so heavy and non vented)/ Tried the Specialized Deviant on.... but It just didnt feel comfortable on my head.... dispite feeling a tat lighter.
Bike Setup:Iron Horse Yakuza Bakuto ('05). (all stock)
Bottom Line:Unless you can afford (and get a hold of the Dainese D-Raptor fiber LE), stick with the Giro. In my opinion best bang for the buck out there. I get complments on my lid as well.
