    Favoriate Trail:COP
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $2300.00
    Purchased At:rented several times
Strengths:Plush travel, wants to go fast, very strong frame
    will take loads of abuse
Weaknesses:Very heavy front end, and seemed very heavy overall. difficult to meneuver when going slowly.
Similar Products Used:norco shore, a line, specialized big hit
    Bike Setup:stock
Bottom Line:A decent bike, very plush and smooth travel.
It seemed as if whenever i went off a jump or while riding that it was very front heavy. in midair, the nose always dropped. I am by no means an excellent rider, but i have never had a big problem landing jumps, until i rode this bike. It was also very heavy, and not very maneuverable while going slow. on the plus side, as soon as i pointed the bike down, it went fast, and stayed in control for the most part.

    Favoriate Trail:Inovec-VelkaLehota
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:kaktusbike
Strengths:Heavy duty frame with great progressive travel, suitable for backcountry, singletrails, freeride and maybe also for downhill, suspension feels like there is no bottom, eats everything

Marzocchi 66 RCV feels pretty soft, rebound, preload and compression can be set in wide range, new quick release axle is dumbproof and very easy and fast to use, seems like i dont have any squeezing problems with it - kinda lucky

Components fit the riding style - heavy duty, but not very expansive, so you will not have to cry if something breaks

SunRims S-type aka MTX are pretty strong
Weaknesses:15.5" frame (M size) comes with 300lb spring, which is suitable for +/- 60kg riders and not for huge drops

Hayes stroker trail brakes are sensitive when not braking hard, however when pushed to limit, they are difficult to control

MZ 66 makes some metal-2-metal noise in first 2-3 cm of travel,

Paint on frame is hard to clean from mud

    Rear axle is not 12mm

Bike Setup:default Kona Stinky 08, Deore LX short cage rear deraileur, Truvativ chainguide
Bottom Line:Great bike, which seems to be unbreakable, suits wide range of biking styles, pedaling is not easy, but possible, great to have fun on your favourite singletrail, drop offs, and even in some urban locations, bike setup is great performance/price

Downhill headtube angle makes it stable in high speeds, easy to turn in low speeds, simply, was hesitating to buy, but dont regret

    Purchased At:Kona Factory
Strengths:Strong Frame. Personally like the looks(thats really important)
Weaknesses:Weight, some crappy parts-brakes and suspension. Chain problems.
    Similar Products Used:Kona Coiler
Bike Setup:2007 base stinky, 2007 rockshox totems, avid codes, chainguide (forget brand)
Bottom Line:I love my bike. It wasnt my first choice but i got a good deal on it, but still have been really pleased with it.

I did have some problems with it right away.

    1. I could never get the brakes to stop sounding like a dying goose which got quite embarrassing. I like spending money on parts I can show off, and bought some avid codes(awesome for stopping my car).

    2. BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAD- I could never get my chain to stay on during really bumpy ride(happened on my coiler as well). I bought a chain guide in the winter and haven't tried it out yet.

    3. I out rode the suspension pretty quick. The drop off triple was good while doing the blues and blacks, but was holding me back on the double blacks now at whistler. I have replaced the fork with a totem.

Though I did have some problems they were not major, and the fork was mainly to make my bike look cooler. Overall I am pleased and would recommend this bike to anyone.

    Weaknesses:pretty heavy, spec'd pretty cheap

Bottom Line:great bike for the money!! is great for downhill and if u have to pedal up it can do that too but it likes shuttle runs ;) . i'm 6'2"and am using it as a very agrerssive trail bike since this my only bike at the time but that being said the seat tube on the XL is only 16.5" so i get pretty cramped in the cockpit on longer climbs. on the other hand i've dropped it crashed it and just beat it up and the frame and major components haven't had any issues and it is alot of fun on downhill trails i cant wait for mammoth!! if u r a beginner or looking for a good pretty cheap bike this is great. just beware its not light!!!

Duration Product Used:More than 3 years

    Strengths:good platform, durable
Weaknesses:cheap spec. original fork was heavy and not adjustable
Similar Products Used:Santa Cruz heckler, bullit
Bike Setup:'99 Stinky Upgrades: Deetraks, Marz. 66 (185mm), juicy 7's (203), Azonic shorty stem, tioga dh saddle, betd goldtech rocker arms (increase to 6.5" rear travel)
Bottom Line:this has been a fun platform to play with, but as suspension and brakes have gotten better over the years, the limits of this design have come out. adding the betd travel plates has expanded the range of the bike as has adding the 66, but what was once a downhill contender is now a standard FR bike. That said, this bike has held up well for 9 years being upgraded piece by piece.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $2299.00
Strengths:frame is built like a tank, components are great for the price, c/w DOPE system stock this year. You give it a line and it takes care of the details.
Weaknesses:heavy (but so was my '03 and there's a reason it lasted), climbs like it's got flat tires.
Similar Products Used:Banshee Scream, Bighit, 03 Stinky
Bike Setup:Stock '08: 66RCV front, roco rear, Hayes Stroker trails, S-type wheels, shimano drivetrain (with sweet shifters)
Bottom Line:I had an '03 Stink with a Boxxer and it rode HARD for three solid years with minimal breakage. I picked up the '08 because I knew the frame would take a beating and the parts spec was 10x better than last year and the best I could find for the money. We'll see how it holds up after next year but so far so good. It's an entry level DH/FR bike but I'm not an entry level rider and it's still good to go.

Strengths:Tough frame. Feels very balanced in the air and on the ground. Strong components
Weaknesses:replaced the fork, rear suspension exhibits a little roughness under brakes over ruts etc (but this is not an issue - proper braeking and body weighting seems to overcome the effect)

Weaknesses:the front fork needs more travel really, you cant set it up to absorb all the rocks without it bottoming out on anyhting over 10ft or so, so i have it set very stiff.

i dont agree with the views that everyone is saying about it being so soft for a cross country bike
and not enough travel for real downhill, this bike catagorizes itself its built so you can ride it out to your favorite hills or spot, so it ca be managebable uphill and when you point it down the fun begins... or throw it off anything you can find.
