$50.00 | | Strengths: | Not biodegradeable? | | Weaknesses: | Heavy. Steel rails are soft, soft, soft. Bad shape and design for long-haul trips. Paint wears off. Vinyl outer is of low quality. | | Similar Products Used: | Giant / TFS stock saddles | | Bike Setup: | Giant Sedona (1998 model) | | Bottom Line: | It's just plain crap. Tries to be good at everything but in reality is good for nothing. I cannot believe someone recommended this for "serious racing" pffft yeah right whatever. I bent the rails on this cheap and nasty piece of crap riding on bitumen! Even worse, you can bend the rails back *by hand*. The shape is all wrong - it's too fat at the front and too lenient in the middle (ie there is no support). You'll end up with nasty chafing and a sore coccyx after a long ride.
I completely destroyed this by riding on a rough track. Not recommended at all.
Notably I found a dirt cheap TFS saddle with chromoly rails and *no cushioning* that is 1000% percent more comfortable than this POS. No kidding. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$50.00 | | Purchased At: | Bike Barn New Lynn | | Strengths: | This is a review for the Velo Plush 'comp 1000' saddle - its leather with holes in it and a red 'D2' on the rear on either side. It is not for the plain black plush saddle which most rveiews on here seem to be about.
This is the most comfy saddle myself, or my gf, have ever used. We now have them on all our bikes. They are hard wearing, super comfortable. I have used hard 'race' style seats before and these are so much nicer. I dont know what makes a saddle work but for some reason this is a great saddle. I used to get a lot of lower back and groin pain, swapping to this saddle has fixed that. No tears in all its use, and they are both pretty well used now! Much longer lifespan than the WTB stock saddle my bike came with.
We ride mainly xc/enduro and at a recent 12hr my girl noted that she felt great after 12hrs on the saddle - much better than a lot of other saddles she had used, especially the stock lightweight giant race (womens specific) one that came as stock. | | Weaknesses: | I guess you could say weight, but we are not weight weenies and dont find it a problem. We both race XC and arent that concerned about a few extra grams. Take a dump before the race if you are that worried!
Maybe a bit ugly? | | Similar Products Used: | WTB, Giant stock, etc etc | | Bike Setup: | Giant XTC1, Giant anthem 1 | | Bottom Line: | I don't know if they still make this saddle. The first one I found, with a bent seat post, in the garbage out the back of my LBS. After a loooong search online could find no info on where to buy this great saddle. One day I was in my LBS getting a few bits and there, in the sale bin, was a brand new saddle, exactly the same as the one I found - so I bought it straight away.
Its super comfy and very hard wearing, the leather seems to be really good qaulity. Forget those s-wankly fizik saddles supposedly designed to be super comfy, this is the real deal.
For real mtb racers/riders, not those who want a superlight saddle. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Better than a seatpost. | | Weaknesses: | Plush, awful feel after the first couple km as the padding compresses and leaves you riding on the poorly formed substrate, really hard on the rear for anything longer than a short ride around the neighbourhood. | | Similar Products Used: | Titec Beserkr, Selle Italia NT1 | | Bike Setup: | Steelwool Sweet City SS, touring singlespeed running stock. | | Bottom Line: | Toss it, buy a real saddle that is firm. Plush is nice only if you're going to the corner store. A firm saddle with a bit of give won't leave you riding on the plastic base after the padding compresses.
This saddle was nice when I test rode the bike. But halfway into my first ride it was obviously in need of replacement as the padding compresses (especially if you're a big guy) and the rear of the saddle is too wide to be comfortable at all. The wider rear might work for a woman with wider hips however (I've got a skinny rear for a 6'3" guy) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Some 'bike roads' here in Europe are integrated with the sidwalk, so I fly past pedestrians at about 35mph daily. On weekends I load my bike and gear on a train and head eastward to Poland and the Czech Republic. Most towns there have bumpy cobblestones, so after about 6 or 7 hours of exploring my ass used to hurt like hell! Now, with the Velo Plush, I think I've finally found a product that is designed right. I finally have a seat that doesn't pinch off my nuts and weenie! The only improvement that they could possibly make is to run the recessed channel forward through the nose of the seat. That would prevent 'pinching off' when sliding forward. I've thought about experimenting with an Exacto knife, but the seat looks so good that I don't want to mess with it. Of course, at the low cost of $26, I can afford to make a mistake, hmmmm...I'll be right back. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

It really feels great! I could ride on this saddle all day long and I never even think about being sore. I don't even have to were my padded tights when riding. I like the fact that it's narrow and sleek because it doesn't get in the way and it doesn't make my bike look like a beach cruiser. It's just thick enough to do the job.
Not only is it the most comfortable and good looking seat, it's also the cheapest that I've tried. I've tried about a dozen seats ranging from $50-$120 and this one only cost me $26 and out performs all the others seats except for weight. So what! An unbelievable price for this saddle!
My seat is actually labled Nashbar Legend, but it's just a Velo Plush with their name on it. It actually looks cooler than just the plain black because it has gray graphite trim.
I would highly recommend this saddle for a trail rider(not a racer) who just wants something comfy with out making their bike look like a beach cruiser. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

This seat, with the love channel, fits like pair of chamois underwear. For the first time ever, nude riding is actually comfortable.
The love channel has a second benefit. It is possible to "wash the front deraileur" while you ride. This saves you a pit stop, and keeps the chain silky smooth. Also, for some reason this action does not splash your shoes. So, no wet socks here.

This is hardly a weakness though. | | Similar Products Used: | Stock seats, old Vetta gel seats. | | Bike Setup: | 2001 Schwinn Moab 3 | | Bottom Line: | This saddle was highly recomended at my LBS. A few other people picked it up and were happy with it so I gave it try. My first ride I kept sliding to the front due to the seat needed to be titlted up slightly. My next few rides were outstanding. I don't really even think my butt durring rides because this is an awesome seat! If you are thinking about how your butt feels you may be uncomfortable. A few of the other reviewers said it was too narrow for them; they may be heavier than me or a bit older. I am 25 weigh about 166lbs. I have a boney butt - this seat is perfect for me. Any wider It would be like riding one of those grandma seats. Also this seat is a little more cushy on the nose. The rear loosens up with more rides. I think some of the other reviewers may have not given in a fair trial. The more I ride the more this seat loosens up. To top it all this seat was $20 at the LBS and got it for nothing on a trade in with my Schwinn seat. So no complaints there. This seat has proven itself to me and I highly recommend it! Older, heavier riders may want something wider. Bottom line you won't find a more 'plush' seat as the Velo Plush. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I measured it's width in the rear at 126mm -- as a reference, my all-time favorite seat, the Regal, measures 148. Even the Flite, that instrument of torture that passes for a seat, is wider at 140mm. I've never ever had a problem with numb-nuts so nose comfort is really not an issue for me. In the type of off-road riding I do, I can ride practically anything because I don't spend much time on the seat but when it comes to actually spending extended time on the seat I need something that supports my *sit-bones* because that's where I feel the pain. For lack of that support I rate the seat a 2. | Overall Rating: |

Yes it weighs more. But you feel so much better, even after a hour or two, that I'll never go back to anything less. Totally plush, totally smooth. Part of this is obviously from the sus. post, but the saddle is padded well too. I am rarely this enthusiastic about a product. I had been using a suspension seatpost with a Vetta Transverse saddle and was satisfied until I started taking 2 - 3 hr rides. For the first time I experienced the dreaded numbness. Having a strong desire to preserve the family jewels I immediately started checking out different saddle options. I wanted to keep the cost down and I noticed a new 99 product by Velo on the net called the Plush for only $36.00. I called Supergo and although the salesperson was skeptical of the saddle herself, she convinced me to give it a try with the idea that I could send it back if I didn't like it. When I received the saddle I too was skeptical. It's not flashy and it is extremely flexible. It literally feels like you could fold it up and put it in your pocket. It has a cut away underneath your critcal parts for added relief. When I installed it with my suspension seatpost and rode it I was not impressed. Between the bounce of the post and the cushy seat it was too soft and felt uncomfortable. I was all set to send it back but had an intuition and decided to try it with my rigid post. I couldn't believe the difference. The seat feels firm and compliant. No matter where I position myself on it comforms to my contours. It has enough firmness to make me feel more control an confident over rough ground and it's soft and gentle on the butt and private parts. It's more comfortable than my suspension post ever was and doesn't bounce me out of the saddle. Goodbye suspension post! This thing really works! It's not just another empty promise gimmick. I know saddle comfort is a very individual thing, but I think this one is really worth giving a try. A great saddle at a great price. 5 big chilies | Overall Rating: |
