That's not really as much of a weakness as it is a warning. Little hollow studs really can wreck your shins with wounds that take months to button up. But you want grip, you gotta pay for it somewhere. I'll give 'em a B+ overall. I purchased the first pair over 2 years ago and they have been abused to the point that most of the studs are ground down and the sides are completely scuffed. The main problem with these pedals (and Shimano DX20s) is that they have only one set of bearings per pedal. Ideally, pedals should have two sets of bearings (one either side of the pedal).
Out of the three pedals I have named, these are the only one's I would buy again. Chipped paint and scuffed pins is all part of the course - if you don't want to damage the pedals - leave them in the box and don't use 'em.
Not sure the pedals are worth the titanium axle upgrade given how bad the bushes are, but I have yet to find a better flat pedal that come's in so light and packs so much grip. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

Only ONE bearing ! ! Damn ! These pedals are lovely and light, provide superb grip, look good and work very well for me, but having a crappy bush instead of two bearings, one in each end, is just plain stupid, imo.
I'm really disappointed in DMR for this reason. I expected better from a high-end pedal. A bearing on each end would at least help to spread the loads better than that cheap little bushing.
I don't think that I will be buying these again. I would never have given them such a good initial review if I knew about this before.
DMR.........you just lost a customer.

These are Damn Fine Pedals, the best I have ever used. The lightweight magnesium can take a hell of a bashing and keep right on going. I ride in a lot of rocky trails, and give these pedals heaps, they just take it all and keep on truckin'.
The spin is just right on these bearings, and the pins really grip your on shoes. They look great on the bike, and the silver magnesium colour helps to hide all the scrape marks from the rocks.
I locktight'ed [blue threadlock] all the pins in before I used the pedals so I have never lost a pin.
Sure, the pins will eat your shins if they hit you, but they are designed to BITE into your shoes, so expect to get some scars if they hit your legs.

I managed to do 20miles (road) before the bearings came slack, upon invesitgation it turns out they only have bearings in ONE side and a bush in the other, needless to day the bush wears/does not fit properly and before you know it they clunk. When i went back to the shop he said they all do that and i need the upgrade bush (extra cost). i wrote to the manufacturer and never heard back from them. I also found that my skate shoes grip the pedals much better than my BMX Vans. although my skate shoes have been "eaten" by the pedals cause of the softer sole. Yes they are grippy, but they started clicking within 2 weeks, paint rubbed off after 3 weeks, then most of the pins fall out, after one big hit the axle bent slightly and now they are completely buggered. All this and I was only training for one race, and I am back onto my 3 year old style V8's.
I don't know what DMR are playing at but they have let there popularity go to their head to let crap like this out. Right, whinge over.
