Price Paid: $350.00
Purchased At:copelands sports
Strengths:frame, tires, handles great
Weaknesses:marzocchi mz comp 100mm fork, hayes mech. disk brakes, heavy
Bike Setup:stock
Bottom Line:the best bike for the money. A fun bike to beat up, want to upgrade the fork and brakes. The brakes are just ridiculously weak. The fork feels as if its made of actual soda cans! But that doesn't really matter when the geometry is so dialed that you can lean 'er like your on a street bike. The Kendas help out a lot with that. Although I wish I had the Nevegal on the front as well, not just on the back. The blue groove tends to wash out for a second and then regrab(fun!)(sometimes). Anyways try it and buy it if you like it. I don't care.

Favorite Trail:Whistle Lake
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:Skagit Cycle Center
Strengths:The Frame is nice and beefy. I love the tires and wheels. The crank seems to be up to par. Handles awesome, takes that downhill and single track like a champ.
Weaknesses:The tires are grippy but do wear fast. The fork sucks. It's nice a smooth but I broke it my with my first month of riding. Replaced it with Z.1 Dropoff, suits that bike perfectly. The pedals are a little slippery when wet. You'll want to upgrade at least the front disc.
Similar Products Used:Giant Yukon, Klein Attitude Comp, Giant DS1
Bike Setup:Stock except for Z.1 Dropoff fork, race face bash gaurd, Hayes hydaulic disc in front and a softer saddle.
Bottom Line:This is a great bike. I'm totally happy with. The fork is a true piece of crap, but after replacing it, I couldn't be happier. Not too heavy for the price, handles drops and jumps just fine, eats up the single track and the steep stuff.

Awesome for a $600 bike.

Purchased At:Broadway Bike Shop
Strengths:This bike has a super strong frame and handles great. It looks like a dirt jumper but it is good on trails(still is good for jumping). i bought it on a whim but it was a great whim. The brakes are some of the nicest mechanical discs i have tried. The tires are super tough and hold the ground really well.
Weaknesses:none
Bottom Line:This bike is great for trail, jumps, and for beginners and intermediate riders

Favorite Trail:Davidson College Campus
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $560.00
Purchased At:Sun and Ski Sports
Strengths:This Bike has an extremely solid frame. The bike has decent components for the price. It comes with disk brakes standard. The Fork is ok.
Weaknesses:The Fork as I said is OK. I made the mistake of riding off a six foot dropoff. The name six gave me some bad ideas I guess. If all you are going to be doing is going over things under two feet you will be fine with the fork. Up grade to clips as soon as possible. the pedals are not the greatist ones on earth but will work.
Similar Products Used:Giant Iguana Disk
Bike Setup:Upgraded to a Marzocchi Z1 dropoff II. Definitely a good upgrade. Easton Carbon Fiber Bar 5 degree rise.(To compensate for weight of the fork). Clip pedals.
Bottom Line:This Is a great bike to start out with. I would strongly reccomend this bike to a beggining rider with not a whole lot of money. It is a bike i am proud of and am willing to show off on! The components are good enough to last a while and should give you little trouble. I have been riding this bike very aggresively and it has held up well. This bike will be a great investment.

Favorite Trail:Hobby Park
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $620.00
Purchased At:Sun and Ski
Strengths:Well.... it doesnt cost much
Weaknesses:Fork- Broke the brake arch after about three months
Brakes- offbrand, the front one locks up (not a good thing), I snapped the rear caliper right off the frame
Wheels- inside of the front hub separated from the shell, the rear wheel will not stay true
it is heavy
Bike Setup:stock except for rear brake haro replaced the caliper with a tektro after I snapped the guad POS right off teh frame
Bottom Line:do yourselfe a favor, dont buy this bike if you anticipate doing anything that involves going fast or leaving the ground. I bought this bike expecting to ride it for years, but, this November, when the warranty runs out, I will be buying a real bike becasue if I keep the haro without the warranty, i will not be able to replace everything that i break.

This is not a freeride, urban or dirt jumping bike it is a ride-around-the-neighborhood bike, and it will not withstand anything else. Buy a nicer bike, because you will end up spending more just keeping the Haro ridable.

I give it three value chili's only becasue its inexpensive, it is not worth your hard earned six-hundred bucks

Please dont buy this bike

Price Paid: $350.00
Purchased At:Bicycle Discovery
Strengths:Frame strength. Great "beater" bike.
Weaknesses:Weight, Fork, Components.
Similar Products Used:Univega Alpina 700, Pro-Flex 756, Old Trek Antelope
Bike Setup:Frankenstein. All of the parts from the Alpina. Bottom-of-the-line Marzocchi Z4. Mavic rims. Avid Mech Discs-a must.
Bottom Line:If you don't have a lot of money, but want a bike that you can jump, ride fast, hit whatever you want, and do it over and over again, this is the bike for you. I ovalized the head tube on the old Univega--I had components but no frame. The guys at Bicycle Discovery let me pick up the Haro for about $300, cuz all I wanted was the frame. They switched all of my parts over from the Univega and the bike hasn't been near the shop since. It's heavy, but you get what you pay for in that department. Throw the Z4 on it (or something better than Manitou's Six-garbage) and you'll be able to beat the sh*t out of it. Next bike will be another Full Suspension, but Haro has my money for a great all-around fun bike to hit the jumps with.

Favorite Trail:City Park
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:Sun & Ski
Strengths:Out of Box ridablilty without breakin da bank. Easy to upgrade. Beefy wheels. The frame strength is integral to what this bike is. The tire set is kickin; they HOOK-UP hard core. The brakes are great for hand and lower arm strength training(they are strong only when the rider is)
Weaknesses:Only 3 sizes!? Do not expect this $600 bike to have a fork with the quality of a $600 fork. Know that you will want to upgrade the fork, brakes, front derailler, and the wheels 'cause those hubs are kinda flaky. Be warned, this bike is HeavY. Truvative rings are weak, crank is ok(use MRP rig) I hope that you know that those break are there to be replaced(very few cable actuated disk-brakes work)
Similar Products Used:Raleigh lahar
Bruser
Bike Setup:This bike is my beater, I got it for jumpin and trashin'. My pockets aren't low enough to make this bike go enough. New fork with plenty of travel to keep the geometry proper(Fox Vanilla is recomended). Avid disk brakes 'cause they cost very little $. Panaracer Fire XCPro is it for me(most conditions). XTR F&R deraillers. Prospects include: MRP rig, Fox Vanilla, Lighter stout wheels, new rapid fire.
Bottom Line:This bike is kickin' if you are not to picky about your parts. If you are begining off-road, then this is a great choice. Don't abuse the fork and it will provide some smooth action for ya. Get the wheels checked out after riding it for a coupla weeks.

Strengths:Great ride especially for the price, this is the best bike out there in the 5-600$ range, the fork isnt bad (as some would say) and the frame rocks, what u have to realize when going to a website like this is people who ride 2000 dollor bikes write some of these reveiws and u cannot base ur opinion souley on that because it will be negitive. i spent a while looking at bikes on the internet and off this is the best for the price
Weaknesses:trouble with the front derailer(hard to get it to shift up sometimes), but i havent even had my 30 day check up yet and the owner of the shop rushed putting it together a little bit cause i was coming back to pick it up a little sooner than he anticipated but other wise no probs!

Strengths:Frame, bars, sadle.
Weaknesses:Fork.
Bike Setup:Lost the big ring and dropped in an Asylum bash gaurd...Manitou Black crash replacemt.
Bottom Line:I bought the bike an entry into the sport. Overall I'm pretty happy with it's performance. The shock just plain sucks.I'm note very agressive with the bike but the shock still tops out after compression and I snapped it in two landing a small jump. Sadle feels professional and comfortable. I do have a problem with the chain jumping, but taking a couple links out should fix that. My local dealer suggested the DJ111 or the Manitou black as a replacement. If you have a budget to work with and don't mind spendin a few extra buck on upgrading the shock this is your bike...Fun, strong, affordable.

Weaknesses:Fork

Bike Setup:Stock but with Marzocchi DJ2, Kenda Kinetics 2.5 DH tires
Bottom Line:C'mon people, this is a freakin' $600 bike. Of course it doesn't have the greatest fork or crank. Get over it. The reason why this bike rules is that it only cost $600 and not $1000 and that's exactly why you all bought it who are baggin on it - you cheapskates. I ride mine all over the place and yeah, I've upgraded the fork because I saved money on the bike compared to a Norco. Thanks for the great ride Haro.

Bottom Line:the shock sucks!!!!, These are the worst disc brakes I have ever seen! Switch to ANY other discs or Vbrakes as soon as possible. This frame is worth upgrading or buying a better version before buying this one. A Marzocchi comp on this bike would be a great upgrade(105 mm travel). Even with the crappy fork this is a great price point at around $600.
