Submitted by rsquared28 a Racer from Sacramento, Ca
Date Reviewed: July 10, 2009
Favorite Trail:Auburn Area
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:Mad Cat Bikes
Strengths:Sturdy frame,
Weaknesses:Heavy tires and wheels, cockpit components are heavy. Gears too low for me.
Similar Products Used:Felt Solo Niner
Bike Setup:WTB Prowler front tire, Felt handle bars (super wide)
Bottom Line:Super fun bike. Simple, inexpensive. Great winter time alternative to my high dollar race bike or FS trail rig. No gears, rigid fork, cable pull brakes - it doesn't get simpler than this. Hammer on the bike all day long and there is little clean up work. The aluminum frame is rigid enough to rail through corners at serious speed. I am faster on this bike on some trails than on my race bike.
The EBB is working great with no creaks or pops.
I had to have the wheels trued up after fifty miles or so.

Date Reviewed: February 15, 2009
Favorite Trail:McDowell Competitive tracks
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Good frame, EBB with set screws, great price, super rigid.
Weaknesses:Poor component spec'd in from the horrible wheels to the heavy stem, bars and seatpost, oh, and super rigid.
Similar Products Used:No other SS 29'ers
Bike Setup:stock except for Monkey Lite bars, Kenda Small Block 8 rear tire, and Race Face seatpost.
Bottom Line:After racing everything on the road from track to TT's I started riding my Specialized FSR full suspension MTB. As soon as I purchased my Ally SS the Specialized got sold and the road bikes have seen no action. For the money you can not go wrong. I did have to take the wheels apart and throw some spoke prep on the nipples and retrue them but apart from that I have just changed out some parts out of want. If you are curious about single speed being a blast. Yes it is. This is an awesome bike to start it on.
