Date Reviewed: August 3, 2002
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $200.00
Strengths:Good looks, reliability, paint finish
Weaknesses:poor forks (rst261) When travelling rough terrain the forks make it feel like you're holdig a jack hammer
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:Original
Bottom Line:I bought this bike for cycling to work and the bit of off road. The bike has done me proud, apart from the odd puncture this bike has NEVER let me down. I was thinking of getting a new bike, but then decided I will buy an LX/XT groupset mix and bolt it all on to the frame. I would appreciate any comments on this whether you think this is a good or bad idea.
I shall definately change the front susp too. Cant think why I have put up with it for 2 years.
If you want a GREAT cheap bike then buy this one.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $225.00
Purchased At:Not in USA
Strengths:Strong and Sturdy
Weaknesses:Difficult to put a D-Lock on
Similar Products Used:Klein Attitude Comp '00
Bike Setup:Factory
Bottom Line:Very good, I have only recently started getting into Bikes again, and have tied a few of other peoples bikes. I did think I got a goood deal, although, looking around on the net, I have seen them for about £189 (I paid £225). I have also heard that the suspension is bad, although it seems fine and the ride is similar to bike with more expensive forks. I find it is easy to speed up and swurv the traffic with, and best of all it is ejoyable to ride. The 24 speed gears are flsh, and they work all the time. The general layout makes the bike very confortale to ride, and fun to have thrills on.

Favorite Trail:Harrison Bay
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $350.00
Purchased At:East Ridge Bicycle
Strengths:Relatively light, responsive steering, durable
Weaknesses:The front shock is a bit soft and the shifting can be slow, but hey, $350. Next replacement - a real saddle
Similar Products Used:Considered Fuji and Giant entry level as well
Bike Setup:Stock but added Shimano 515 pedals and IRC tires, get rid of those death slicks
Bottom Line:The bike has met my need for an entry level mountain bike. Although now I'm wishing I had a better front shock. It tends to bottom out a bit too quickly and abruptly (but I do fit in the 'clydesdale' category). The seat gets a bit squishy after a while, but would be good for a comfort rider. If you must have crisp shifting all the time every time, you might want to move up the Haro line a bit, but I'm pleased with the frame and overall quality of the bike. I will likely upgrade in the future and will seriously consider Haro again.

Favorite Trail:Desert Classic/National
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:I really like the frame. For the money, you can't find a 7005 with decent components for $350.
Weaknesses:the plastic pedals, slick tires, huge seat, weak suspension.
Bike Setup:Manitou X-Vert, Bontranger EA-70 Easton Racelite Bar, Bontranger FS 2000 saddle, Kore Lite stem, Welgo pedals w/ toe clips, Kalloy suspension seatpost, FSA Aheadset, and Vittoria Kudo kevlar tires.
Bottom Line:My friend, my brother and me all have the same bike (go team HARO.) We are all beginners. But we have tackled some very tough trails (National) for being rookies. The best and first upgrade were the tires, we could not get any traction on them. My friend still uses the slicks and has had rim flats and taco'd his front wheel, not to mention thorns. Next best improvement was the suspension and seatpost. Other than that this bike is really good for beginners who are going to fall, bang and scratch things up. I'll upgrade more components in the future like the Crank, Cassette, derailleur and shifter. I'll probably buy another frame when I get better and transfer all my components. Like I said for the money it's very good. Especially if you are going to f**k s**t up.

Bottom Line:As promised, here is a followup. I really am in love with this bike. I stare at it sometimes and think gee, I wish I was on top of you ...woops i was thinking about my girlfriend. Seriously though, this bike is terrific. I took it for its first real test run today and it handles better than my car. It just makes you want to jump curbs and climb hills. If you are looking for an entry/intermediate level MTB, this is it! Look no further. Sorry for the short entry but now I am thinking of my gf. gotta go :-)

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Gorgous bike in ball burnished. Well built. Pretty light. Nice componentry. Bang for the buck. V frame for those of shorter stature (aka the midgets :) . I am one of them )
Weaknesses:None yet.
Similar Products Used:GT palomar, Specialized RockHopper
Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:Just got the bike a few hours ago, so I can't make a decent review but I was so pleased with my short trip from the bike shop that I had to post. First off, it is a very attractive bike. It looks like a machine in ball burnished instead of a bike. This is the first bike i have owned that has shocks so that was a very pleasant suprise when i went down the curbs of NYC. I love that swoosh noise that it makes. The brakes are absolutely amazing and can stop on a dime. I worry that one of these days that I will stop too suddenly and fly over the handlebars. I think this is the perfect bike for me. Also, the price is great! If you want to get one, stop by Frank's Bike Shop in lower Manhatten. The guys there are great. Tell them Lee sent you.
