Favorite Trail:Houlden Hater
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $10.00
Purchased At:Bike Shed
Strengths:Te frame is as solid as you need it. Its good as a beginners bike. The cranks are solid. It is very cheap second hand... hence the price!
Weaknesses:I also replaced the components as the broke/bent/buckled when riding. the chain ring is aggresive, you dont want to get that stuck in your leg. The plastic pedals are ridiculous especially if its wet or muddy, You just lose grip and your feet slide off. The handle bars are useless. The tyres are too thin, and they lose grip easy.
Similar Products Used:Kona Scab, Specialized P2.
Bike Setup:Replaced broken stuff. Same frame though.
Bottom Line:This bike is good if you are a beginner. It is more of a bike for occasional use. The weekend warrior might use it for a bike ride with granny.

It is cheap and affordable for those who dont want to splash out on something that they might not even like.

On a serios note this bike is alright. Over time when you save enough money it can be improved, and parts replaced like what i have done. Know i have a bike which i am pleased with and proud of.

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $250.00
Purchased At:Oshman's
Strengths:Strong steel frame. Overall, not too bad for an inexpensive beginner bike.
Weaknesses:I bent the handlebar the first time out. Drivetrain is pretty sloppy, and the chain slips when pedaling hard uphill. The cranks are crap. Take it easy or you will bend the crap out of you wheels. Not much grip from the tires. Heavy. -- but really is not that bad for the money.
Bike Setup:replaced things as they broke
Bottom Line:I bought this bike to try out mountain biking and see how much I would like it. I love it!! The bike was perfect for what I was looking for -- inexpensive and reliable enough to start with.

If you are a beginner, or not really sure if you want to drop alot of cash on your first mountain bike, this bike is great for you. If you are going to do alot of cross-country riding, or are fairly rough on your bike, then spend more money and get better quality.

When you are ready to move up and spend more money, you will be amazed at the difference in quality.

Similar Products Used:Healing Offroad C3

Favorite Trail:Lackawanna State Park
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $249.00
Purchased At:Cedar Bike
Strengths:everything is perfect for a beginner. The seat is surprisingly comfortable, brakes work great, really smooth shifting.
Weaknesses:The tires could be better. I plan to add better tires for trail riding.
Similar Products Used:I looked at Gary Fisher, Trek and a Diamondback. It certainly beats my Wal-Mart variety bike!
Bike Setup:It's still as I purchased it.
Bottom Line:This is a great bike for a beginner, like me. All of the components work (unlike my last bike) and the ride is very smooth.

Favorite Trail:Wissahichon
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Great geometry, rigid frame, so far very durable** Style and PRICE!!
Weaknesses:lower end components(you get what you pay for), pedals, the stock rst fork is not adjustble and has limited travel
Similar Products Used:Gt Aggressor, Gt Sadleback , Trek 6000
Bike Setup:Stock with end bars and toe clips
Bottom Line:I really like this bike, It's got a nice feel and is real durable so far **Note, I cracked the frame on the first one they gave me- it was a small crack on the head tube and was probally a manufacturer's defect. They replaced the bike with no hassles and relatively quick. I have not ever riden the new one but will definately post if i have any problems, I think it was just a fluke. The bike climbs really well, quick down hill- I like the gear ratios. The tires don't have alot of grip, but enough and are good for street riding (in between trails). I felt like I got more for my money than some of the comps ($350 with the toe clips and end bars) and the truth is that you don't need to drop a ton of money to rip up the trails. In time I will probally throw some upgrades on but for right now it gets the job done well. Great bike for begginer/intermediate riders, shop around what ever you buy and get the one that feels right.
