Favorite Trail:All that I can find
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $800.00
Purchased At:CBSF
Strengths:Lightweight, great parts, serious travel, crisp handling, great value
Weaknesses:Rear shock needs breaking-in, perfectible brakes, weak painting
Bike Setup:Stock R1 setup
Bottom Line:Great value. You never get a 4.5" rear travel bike at this price. I recommend this bike to any beginner-medium XC biker who is looking for a well-performing bike without breaking the bank.
The SR fork works well. It is soft (which good for some and bad for others) and has a lockout (!) and working preload adjusts. The rear shock (X-Fusion Glyde R) needs breaking-in so be patient. My only gripe about this bike is that the brakes can be more powerful. Yes, they do stop you, but you can get better ones.
Despite the big frame size (21" for me) this bike is light (I can easily raise it by one arm) and handles very precisely. I've demo'd a Chumba EVO before which was considered "the most razor-sharp handling bike ever". The R1 comes very close.
Great bike!
