Favorite Trail:Syncline
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1.00
Purchased At:Built Myself
Strengths:Where to start. I have the white/orange version, so the color scheme in my opinion is far pimper than the blue, sorry guys.

Like the above review stated, this is a snappy, light EXTREMELY FUN bike to ride. It feels like with each pedal stroke, turn, hop, jump etc., the bike responds with 30% more energy than you put into it. Its an amazing thing really.
You lose absolutely nothing to the suspension in the rear.
The welds are works of art. With the highlight being the cage around the rear shock. The gussets are clean looking. All of the cable stays are PERFECTLY placed for very clean, straight lines from the cockpit all the way back. Very impressive lines actually.

The angles on the M/L work insanely well for a 5'10"-6'2" rider, however I have found that a set back seatpost is best for me with a 40mm stem.

The replaceable dropouts are nice, but I would buy spares before they become obsolete.

I picked my brand new frame up for $400 on Ebay, which was a STEAL as far as I am concerned. Now that I have built & ridden it, I would have paid the full retail on it!
Weaknesses:The only one I truly see: A bit too many mongoose logo's

The only other weakness is the stigma that people (other riders) have about the Mongoose brand. They are truly uneducated.
Similar Products Used:None. This is a very unique set up.
Bike Setup:Pike 454 Dual Air w/20mm maxle(great fork by the way)
Transition Revolution Wheelset (white/black spoke)
SDG I-Beam post/Bel Air SL saddle (black/white)
Juicy 7's
SIC Llc Stem
Funn 10 year Anniversary orange riser bars
ODI Lock ons
Sram PG990 Cassette
Sram x-9 shifter/deraileur
Azonic Nitro DH crankset
Sram Hollow pin chain
Wellgo B-51 (?) pedals (white)
2.35" Nevegal Dual Compond front & rear

Bottom Line:If you can get the frame for less than $800, you SHOULD.

I wanted to put together 3 bikes when I started on this build. I wanted a 24" BMX cruiser, a hardtail for urban, and a shorter travel light freeride bike.

I have all 3 in this one set up.

It pedals like a BMX, performs and moves like a hardtail, but has just enough travel and the right angles to "freeride" it.

The main purpose for this bike is to help me hone my skills on my 9.5" downhill bike, by having to pick lines better. She is certainly going to fulfill the role.

Mongoose has managed to build an INCREDIBLE frameset with the help of EC.

I know my next build with be the EC-D downhill version. Keep your eyes posted for that review!

And screw all the naysayers, I'd pit this bike up against any bottlerocket any day.

Favorite Trail:Anything black at Keystone
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:manufacturer's rep. - frame only
Strengths:Light, snappy and no pedal bob. Construction top shelf all the way. This thing rockets forward with each pedal stroke. The I-Drive pushes the suspension movement forward and not vertical. Absolutely love this bike. Tears up 4X and DS courses.
Weaknesses:None.
Similar Products Used:Specialized P-bikes and Enduros, DJ300.
Bike Setup:Marzocchi WC 4X fork, E13 LG-1 chaninguide, Dangerboy stem and bars, ODI Ruffians, SDG SL saddle, Sram drivetrain, Specialized Lo Pro Mag platforms, Hayes V-6's.
Bottom Line:This is a fast bike. Do not be afraid of the name Mongoose. This bike can take it and elevate your skills. It is built tough. I weigh 215 and am jumping the hell out of it with no problems. I have the 2007 model and the white color is sick! When you sprint, this thing takes off like a rocket thanks to the I-drive and can rail the corners like no other.

Date Reviewed: August 22, 2006
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2200.00
Purchased At:Harbor Country Cycles
Strengths:High quality parts, SRAM X-9's, MRP chainguide, just to name a few. The bike is light and snappy. The floating bottom bracket design is awesome, barley any pedal bob at all. Race spec bike, at an entry level price.
Weaknesses:Handling at slow speeds is kinda slow and awkward, but since it's a race bike, once up to speed it's fine. The cockpit can feel a little cramped for riders with long legs, but after a couple jumps you'll love it.
Bike Setup:All stock and no complaints!!
Bottom Line:Awesome bike at an awesome price. Mongoose has really come a long way!
