Strengths:
Light weight, holds air well, no leaks of any kind and doesn't need a lot of maintenance.
Weaknesses:
A bit flexy, short travel and I have to unstick the wipers befor I ride( not a big deal). Oh and the retail price.

Bottom Line:
All'n' all a nice, plush, super lite ride. Add a light weight wheelset and prepare for take-off. I weigh 165 and think this weight is close to max for this shock(maybe 170-175 max). I recomend a short riser bar to make up for the short travel and lower hand position. I get some brake rub on hard corners and bottom out on some hits, but for the light XC racer this shock is your sole-mate. I am rating this for serious racers, as for my self I hope to find as good of a deal on a SID SL for travel sake.

Duration Product Used:

Strengths:
Light Weight, Supple Performance, Smooth Action, Tuneable Ride, Looks, Durability(really!), Predictability, Comfy-like Happy-land feeling in all conditions, just the right amount of travel
Weaknesses:
Difficult to make precise air pressure adjustment, steering in really technical terrain, lack of damping adjustment, pain-in-the-butt to disassemble/maintain
Similar Products Used:
Cannondale Headshock, Judy SL, Manitou 3
Bike Setup:
Schwinn Homegrown Factory Limited - XTR, Hugi, pimpin' gold anno color
Bottom Line:
In my experience, the SID Race is a perfect cross-country racing fork. While the Headshock provides optimal precision in technical terrain, it seriously lacks in compliance and comfort. The SID is plush and yummy-smooth over all that a race course can throw at you. For most races, the fork is the right balance between stiffness, compliance and performance.
I find that the travel is perfect, and that for me (6'4", 170 lbs) running 55psi in the main chamber matched to 65 psi in the negative, I get consistent, smooth performance. Of all the forks I have used, this one is by far the best all-around performer.
Together with the beautiful Schwinn frame, this fork creates the perfect cross-country racing package. It is expensive, but I believe that in this case you do get what you pay for.
I highly recommend this fork for anyone interested in performance in racing. However, once taken out of that context this fork loses some of its luster. I despise how difficult it is to control on very technical descents here in Santa Barbara (to the point of not really wanting to ride!). The Headshock was unbeatable for those trails. But for what the fork is designed to do (it is called the "Race" after all) I think it is darn near perfect.

This fork is lite as hell. It's awesome how adjustable it is just by using a fork pump. It looks trick too.
Mine weighs 1195 grams with cut steerer. It is one of the lightest suspension forks available. I weigh 65 kg, so the flex of my fork is not a big problem for me, can live with it. I ride it with 3 bar pressure in the main air chambers and 5.5 bar pressure in the negative air chamber. For me the 63mm of travel are enough (with the above setup I use in regular conditions nearly 60mm, the rest is for the big hits), so i give it 5 chilis. If the regular price is it worth, I don´t know. I got mine for about 360 USD...

I beat the hell out of this fork, and it held up wunderfully!! it was strong and i felt like it was keeping my wheel in line. This shock f'N rocks!!!!!!!i THINK THAT YOU GET A BETTER DEAL ON IT THOUGH WHEN YOU BUY IT WITH A BIKE, COMPARED TO THE $620 PRICE TAG SEPERATELY!!!!! I do feel that it is worth the price though for a shock that holds up and supports you like this one does, so if you have the money this is the best cross country race fork that you can get in my opinion.
