Summary:
This trial used to be right in my back yard when I lived in East Sooke and I rode this trial many times (my after work workout!). It's an excellent challenge for the cross country set. Probably a little too exausting for the downhill crowd (too much up and down with not enough sustained extreme downhill, although there a couple pretty good drops over 5'). But if your into a nice scenic and challenging xc trail this can't be beat. I garantee you'll be absolutly blow away at the beauty on this ride! Keep in mind though your not really meant to ride in the park, so the best time to ride is weekdays when you would be running into (over) hikers. It's a huge park though and there's room for everyone!

Recommended Route:
From Victoria, take the Sooke hwy. Go left on Gillespie Rd. (just past 17 Mile Pub where you can get an excellent post ride burger and beer on the way home). At the end of Gillespie, go Right on East Sooke Rd. and continue to the Anderson Cove entrance to East Sooke Park. Total trip 45 minutes from Victoria.

Mt Work, AKA the Dump. This is Victoria's DESIGNATED mountain bike park and it's awsome! Any kind of rider will be satified here. A training area is set up at the entrance to practice easy wheelie drops and ramps. You wont forget 'Organ Doner' (triple black diamond) and 'Rolly Ridge' has some nice drops and shoots!

Summary:
This is an SWEET trail! It has got to be my very favorite trail anywhere. VERY technical and eXtreme. At first it's fairly level, then it sharply rises before plunging straight down to the water. The descent is insanely fun, with a really tricky rocky section followed by a steep drop, then with the momentoum gained from it you fly into a switch-back section through waist high ferns. The trail ends at the waters edge, looking out over the ocean. Going back up is NOT fun though. But definitly worth it!

Recommended Route:
Straight Down!!!
