Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Comox Valley Summary: This is a fun XC trail, mostly flat. It's littered with technical obstacles: strange root sections, bridges with tough approaches, sneaky fast log drops, speedy sections with surprising ends and logs ranging from a few inches to as high as your bars. Riders just getting into technical stuff will find this trail fun and challenging, it's a good skill-builder. I remember the first time I cleaned it. Many local hardcores finish their long day down the mountain with it, when fatigue renders the trail totally challenging all over again. Recommended Route: It's definitely best to approach this from the Tomato Creek trail, which is near the exit of Arbutus, Sniper etc. just past CL7 on Colake Main logging road. At the end of Tomato Creek turn right on the old closed road and look for a trail to your left ( toward the dam ). The sign for the trail is a 100m in or so (typical of the trails around the lake) Alternatively, from the dam, ride up the (damn steep) logging road until you see a road on the left with ditches dug across it. This is the road that Tomato Creek ends at. Find trail as above. It will cross another old road half way along. Keep riding. Other recommended trails in the same area: Approach this from 2 Sheiks & a Dog or Screamin Demons (upper trails) then Monkeys Challenge and Arbutus or Sniper then Tomato Creek. Part of a good 4 hour run!

, from Courtenay, BC Summary: The best way is to ride Tomato Creek and then Blow Out Your Candles. You can start riding the trail from the logging road. If you've never been to the Comox Lake trails just go to a local bike store and ask. Logs, Bridges, Roots, Short Climbs, Short Drops. Beginners will find this trail challenging but it's a good test, not to crazy, advanced riders will be able to fine tune their log riding skills on some of the larger logs. Recommended Route: I usely ride some of the downhill trials (Arbutus, Monkeys Challenge, Bics, Tomato Creek) and finish the day with "Blow Out Your Candles" & "Tony's Trail (and adjoining trail that)". Other recommended trails in the same area: Tony's Trail, Beven, Shithouse, Tomato Creek, Arbutus, Bics, Monkey's Challenge (Upper & Lower), 2 Sheiks & a Dog, Demon's Breath.
