The first 45 minutes of the ride is a decent climb on switch back loose rock road (which turns to more compact stone after ten minutes). Unfortunately the area has been logged the past couple of years so the climb has really been widened. The top part of the trail is great. It is a cross country country ski trail that traverses the top of the mountain range with dips and rises. The trail is about 16km one way out to St. Guilluime. The closer you get to St. Guilluime, the more rugged the trail becomes. You can bike back the same way or drive back on the road. St. Donat is the ski doo capital of the world, so in the summer we have tons of trails to choose from. I belong to the club de plein air which organizes week end rides in the area. There are maps and links posted on their website below.
Autoroute 15 north exit 89. follow the 329 north till end. Turn left on 125 north and follow signs to Mont Garceau ski hill. The trail starts on the far left of the chalet, just left of the maintenance and snow grooming garage.
