Camp Preston Hunt

Some of the best Mtn. Biking you will find in the south. This trail is full of a little bit of everything you would want in a Mtn. Bike trail. Killer climbs, screaming downhills, bridges, jumps, berms, rocks gardens, bench cuts, fast/slow technical areas. Aroud a beautiful lake, passing rustic scenery and all kinds of wildlife. Your bound to have a wonderful, eventful ride you will never foget. Very well marked and ready to roll!
Thanks to the Boy Scouts of America for providing us access to several hundred acres that has made this to be one of the best trails in the area. Stop by when you can and experience Mtn. Biking in SW Arkansas at it's finest. Take Hwy. 82 (9th St.) off of loop 245 heading EAST from Texarkana, AR. You will see the signs! Nice/Clean restrooms are available just a few feet away from the trail head.

Summary:
This IS THE BEST trail for miles around!! If you think 5 miles is a short trail you need to ride this one! CPH's (Camp Preston Hunt's) land belongs to Boy Scouts of America, who have been so generous to let us use it and build an exceptional trail there. You could go 2 hours in any direction and find a 10+ mile trail that would be a lil more fun or a little more exhilarating....but if you live in the TXK area this is a slice of heaven to get to ride!!!

CPH has the rewiews of having a lil of everything, because it does! Hard climbs, tight technical sections, fast decents, and very enjoyable single track. If you think a great trail can't be built in Texarkana, or that a 5 mile trail isn't worth riding you should see what your missing!

The plan is that there will be more trail cut, but for what we have you can't beat the time and distance to this Wonderful trail!

Recommended Route:
Almost any of the trail can be bypassed for what skill level your on. But if you a decent rider there are arrows to point you the full ride, and if you tucker out the fire road leads all the way back to the truck.

Summary:
This is the best trail in the Texarkana area. It is a good mix of everything as others have said. It has some tough climbs, nothing really long but great for this area. The current trail is a 5 mile loop but more new trail is currently being built. Some of the hills will be tough for beginners but you can bypass them by using the road.

I try to get out and ride it at least once a week. Eric and the other trail builders have done a great job. This trail will just continue to get better with time as it gets more use. If you are a local or just passing through, I recommend riding this trail. This trail alone is promoting the sport in a big way to the local community.

Recommended Route:
The main loop. If you are looking for a more leisurely ride, you can ride around on the dirt roads.

Summary:
This trail was a great experience for me. I am basically a beginning MTB'er and I was truly challenged by this trail. Most of the trail was easily ridden but there are a few spots that kicked me. Fortunately, you have a few options that allow you to pass on the most difficult sections, yet still continue the ride. I met the man who designed the trail and had a nice visit with him. This was my second ride since November and i cannot wait to get out there again.
