Cross Country Rider Summary: Rode this trail for the first time today and it was pretty sweet. Freakin fast as all get out in some places and you can get some huge jumps in places because they have built mounds on the trails to avert erosion caused by the horses and ATVs. The only thing about this trail that i didnt like is that it is incredibly rocky in places and sometimes the rocks get kicked up by the bike and hit you hard! I got a flat tire cause i hit a rock going pretty fast down a trail and had to walk 5 miles back to the start, so that kinda sucked. Bring extra tubes and such for this trail, because the likely hood to get a flat is pretty good. Lots of uphills so you get a darn good workout and the downhills are steep and real fast! Just watch out for huge rocks hidden by leafs. I would recommend to not come here right when fall starts cause the leafs cover every rock up and thats why I got a flat cause I could not see any of the huge rocks. Overall its a sweet trail though! Recommended Route: I only had time to do the orange and blue trails, whatever those are called. I wouldnt really know since ive only been there once. Going back soon though!

Ridden Trail: Every few months

, from Little Rock Summary: I rode this trail system for the first time last weekend. The multiple trails here vary from wide logging roads to very narrow (and STEEP!) almost single track routes. Since horse and ATV use is common here, single track is non-existent. You will almost certainly encounter horse riders on your ride so always watch for them. I have never shared a trail with horses and as a previous review states, you should definitely stop and give them plenty of room. Horses DO NOT like bikes! This is a great place to spend a weekend riding, although I would recommend camping at another location if possible. There are several National Forest campgrounds within 10 miles or so. Your skill level should be at least intermediate as many portions of the trail are very rocky and technical. If you don't like climbing, don't go into the many hollows shown on the map. The trails get VERY steep and some of the climbs are long. This is great full suspension terrain. My buddies on hardtails had a tough time climbing many of the ascents. The trail system has many loops and turns, but is very clearly marked. Don't forget to get a trail map and REGISTER at the trailhead info board. The Forest Service prints a small b&w map that shows all trail intersections and location markers (invaluable). Also, registration as a bike user will let the FS know how often bikers use the trail. I'm sure this count is increasing fast (the more the better). Recommended Route: entire system is great, though have not ridden High Mountain Loop Other recommended trails in the same area: Get an Ozark National Forest map and pick just about any FS road (ie. FR 1820 which is part of the High Mountain Loop). All roads maintained by the Forest Service have a 4 digit number. This area has some of the most rugged terrain in the Arkansas Ozarks and great scenery in any season.

, from Lawrence,KS Summary: I raced at the first mountain bike race they had here, it was awesome. This place is in the middle of nowhwere, and took me almost 2 hours of driving over beautiful mountain roads to get there from Fayetteville but it was worth it. As I recall, the campground water was not very good but the trails were. Very hilly, with big water bars on the down hills. I remember a very cool slick rock creek crossing right above a big waterfall. Nicer camping at Long Pond is right down the road with showers, and a nice swimming beach. Recommended Route: During the week to avoid horses.

Ridden Trail: Once a month

, from Blackwell, Arkansas Summary: If you like to climb, this trail is for you. Some of the trail is really rocky, with basketball size rocks in places and softball size rocks "everywhere". It has good long hard climbs and short hard climbs. The back trail seems to be the most technical. I will only give it a 4 because it lacks any good single track and the horses really can make the trail rough after a rain. Watch out for the ATV's. Recommended Route: Any route is good. All routes are rocky and rough in sections. Other recommended trails in the same area: The Sweet Spot Trail at Russellville is hard to beat for fast single track.
