Mt Nebo Bench Trail

A pretty standard trail. Several steep hills and lots of downhill rideing. Watch out for murky muddholes, they get deep in some points. There's also a nice scenic view at the end and several walk-in camping spots.

Summary:
This trail is easy like sunday morning but damn is it fun and fast for awhile and short, only about 4 miles. If you park at the mt nebo visitor center and drop down to the rim trail behind the visitor centre then take it to the rocky road that drops down to the bench trail. This road is covered as of fall 2007 with big rocks so if you like danger than go down this first road fast otherwise if you dont know what your doing will fall and get large rocks shoved into your face and thats not fun. Once you get off this steep road you will get to the Bench trail and the first mile is just downhill and fast. The rest of the trail is a mix of up and down but mostly flat and then the climb back up to the visitor centre is a pain. If you dont want to go on that steep road that drops down to the bench than just park at the overlook along the road before you get to the top and start on the bench from there.

Recommended Route:
both ways are great, but i prefer to head west on the trail because i found that there are more fast downhills that way.

Old post road

Ridden Trail:
Once a year

Summary:
This was the first trail I ever rode as a mountain biker (4 years ago, when I lived in R-ville) and I fell in love instantly. I went through a little biker depression after moving to the Rock because the trails didn't seem as fun. I actually go a different route from the other reviewer, just because. The first time I rode here, it was after a big storm and there were a lot of downed trees, and they were all on the downhills (beginners luck). They turned simple hills into large jumps! It was a rush. The rangers dont seem to be in too big of a hurry to move downed trees, and that is great for us most of the time. Be prepared to bring a wheel truer if you are wanting to ride this multiple times in one day, as the trees can be a little rough on the bike. BUT, there are no rocks (one of the few AR trails that can claim this) and the ride seems fast. great 4 miles ride it both directions.

Recommended Route:
Start at the scenic overlook on the right (can't miss it) I think the hills are faster in this direction, and the initial uphill is pretty good.

Summary:
This is a grat spot to camp, bike, and hike all at the same place. Beuatiful scenery and a great overlook at the end of the trail. THIS TRAIL IS GREAT! Watch out when it rains, though, it gets easy to slid your bike on all the bumps.

Recommended Route:
There are several switch-backs on the trail that are more advanced than the rest. This is a great trail for beginners and advanced riders.
