Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Avon Summary: The main area consists of three trails (all single track)that run parallel to each other along the side of the "hill". The 1st, runs just off h.h. rd and along a stream from the trail head to the condos. The 2nd runs the same except on the other side of the stream farther into the woods at the base of the "hill". The 3rd runs along the top of the "hill". There are connecting trails throughout the course to mix it up a bit. The ride from the condos to the trail head is a very gradual downhill for the most part on all 3 major trails. Taking the connectors from the top trail to the bottom trails are quick decents with many natural objects to launch off and riding up them is a good lung workout although short. Once familair with the area you can really fly along the trails but beware of people walking dogs!!! There are other trails that branch off in the back area that are tight and twisty but nothing tough. The area is very intermediate with a few technical sections of roots, rocks and bridges, some stream crossings but nothing unmanagable for an int. rider. Mix it up a bit with different patterns of main trails and connectors. Look for big rocks and logs just off the trails to play on and have fun. Recommended Route: Enter on Huckleberryhill Rd. either at trail head across from Counrty Side Park or at the converted school/condos across from School St about a mile up the road. At the condos, ride around soccer field to the far right corner. 1st trail to the right goes to trail head down back down he road. Other recommended trails in the same area: Nepaug, Nasahegon, W. Hartford Res.

, from Farmington Summary: Compact area of red, orange, or white marked trails with blue trails intersecting. Mostly an easy ride with many logs and a few swampy areas to cross. Spur trail at northeast corner of loop continues into and across new housing development and on towards Canton Center where it hooks up with the "Tour de Canton" described in the Mountain Biking Guide to Southern New England. Recommended Route: Check map at trailhead on Huckleberry Hill Road; follow trail to bridge and try the outer loop going counter-clockwise.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Nepaug is fairly close as are the rides of Bristol.
