Fire road type riding on one side with some Dead end loop type single track stuff mixed in. I say its a good 10 miles of it. The other side has all type so if I miss some its thier,short hills long hills logs sand ,drop offs horses, dogs , people, roots, power lines,mud, wash outs ,wooden bridges,state forest trouper tight , wide , ... You can have a good time with a group . ex. two good riders and three beginers ,Five good and three not so good. Take out what you bring in. ps only go something like 3-4 times a year.
Summary: This was my first time riding Huntington, and I was riding alone. The trails were classic New England singletrack. Tight and twisty with rocks and mountain laurel closing in on you.
Some trails were marked others, were not.
I was able to ride 80% on singletrack, with the remaining 20% on fireroads, as I searched for the trails. The hardest climbs were the fireroads; the singletrack would turn with the contours of the area, and didn't really present any climbing challenges.
Very fun riding.
Recommended Route: Park at lot on Sunset Hill, go down hill and find the white blazed trail. It will lead to more singletrack.

Summary: I live less than 1/3 of a mile from the dodingtown entrance and enven less than that from the bear entrance. This summer i went biking there practicly everyday. It is a great place for biking and very beautiful. I guess its not too terribly difficult but it has many suitable trail that are tons of fun. Its a great place to ride with wide trails,(the size of dirt roads) to single tracks. If you are just coming for the jumps and teter totters, then you will be dissapointed by this park. You have to be coming because of the beauty of mountain biking in a prescene area. Its beautiful though. There is two man made lakes, which are great for fishing and swimming in (there is a ropeswing and a lighthouse sort of thing on an island, probably around ten feet up) And there is countless treasures to be found. I fund new trails every time i go and ive probably been there over 75 times. There is cool areas to be found like this hill maybe 20 feet high covered completely in micha, a big 60 foot cliff where rock climbers go, a little thing that i like to call the REdding canyon, which is like a ditch, maybe 15 feet deep surronded by vertical rock on either side, the beautiful hemlock forest and more. I read someone mentioned before that there is a landowner carrying a rifle telling people to get out of his area. I think i can verify this, but dont worry it is bvery far from probably anywhere you will ever make, its probably almost an hour from the doding town entrance, and is deep into the bethel part of the park. I was going down hill for probably half a mile or so, on basicly a double track, and passed an open field or two when i saw a house and the trail came to a T, I went to the left which was the same direction as the house to get a better look at the road i was near when i hear 11 shots desperresed ober probably about 10 minutes. as you might guess i quickly left. If you have a dog, i can gaurentee your dog will love this park. My dog has the best time when hes in the park so make sure you bring him along. Your supposed to have him on a leash, but as long as he is good nobody will hastle you. And one more thing; it is not a good idea to go right now, because there is construction workers, fixing the 5 dams that hold the 2 lakes in place. it is reall anoying and there is signs everywhere telling you your not allowed to be there. there is heavy equipment
Recommended Route: scattered throughout. But techincally you still are allowed to go on sundays. SUpposed to be working through 12/31/04 but i expect longer. After done the water will be about 20 inches higher than previously. Good Luck!

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Summary: Rode for the first time this afternoon...a real gem for MTB'ing in Fairfield County. Also, the fishing is pristine on the 2 lakes. The one thing you must be careful of are the joggers and dog walkers around turns and over hills...they appear out of nowhere. Otherwise, this place is really nice and a great workout!
Recommended Route: Any of the opening routes offers a nice ride

Summary: Can someone post a review of the present trail conditions at Hunting. I'm going to be in Ct. this saturday and was looking for a fun ride in my old stomping grounds. Has most of the snow melted? Is it Icy, muddy, unbearable, etc??? Thanks!!!
Recommended Route: As I remember, it's all fun and relatively easy (with a few rough spots!)
Other recommended trails in the same area: Drive up Rte 7 all the way to the Berkshires and ask around.
