Cross Country Rider Summary: Classic Southern New England Singletrack. Route description is for the north side of the Salmon River (I think the other reviews here are for the south side/Day Pond area). No stunts on this side, you can leave your freeride bikes at home and bring your single speed. Recommended Route: Park at the Airline Bikepath parking lot on Bull Hill Rd
Head northish on the bikepath, towards East Hampton.
Take the first trail on your right after the viaduct. Follow for about 10-15 minutes, past one trail that goes off uphill on your left. At the next trail intersection see high road coming downhill on your left, take low road on the right (straightish).
Take the next left about 100 yards after the third stream. This is a long gradual climb. At the top, take a left onto high road. The next intersection is where low road starts (you just did a loop). Continue back on the trail you came in on. Take your first right, up the hill. After the hill, take the next left. Follow this trail and it dumps you back onto the bikepath. Go left onto the bikepath to the car.
There are some more trails off of the bikepath in this area, but I.m out of space. Have fun. Other recommended trails in the same area: Grayville (accessible off of the same bikepath). Meshomasic.

, from ct Summary: A very scenic, cool, hilly single track ride that even has a couple stunts to play on. Starting on the railroad bed you will find some moderately technical single track to the north and south. Crossing the river over the cumstock bridge, the trail follows the river for a bit and you start to gain elevation (all ride-able!!), onward, you will find one great slick-rock-ish climb - several cool descents with many airtime drops. A mello seesaw and 3 foot drop for the free-riders. All in all a great place - Try not to get arrested by cops in bikini's like MOAS though!! Recommended Route: Check out this map http://www.bikerag.com/images/MAPS/ct-salmon_river_map.htm - many trails to choose from Other recommended trails in the same area: Grayville in hebron, meshomasic

, from Colechester Summary: Not a trail for beginers. If you are just starting out try Mansfield Hollow or Gay City. Both are fun rides. Recommended Route: If you want to miss that long first climb, start out at Day Pond and follow the fireroad / double track toward Arnolds Ravine (downhill). Of course this leaves you with a nice uphill treck for the end of your ride. Other recommended trails in the same area: Case Mountian in Manchester

, from Brooklyn, NY Summary: This is a great trail if you are just getting to the point in your riding were you think you can handle it all and you need new experiences. The trails are steep in places, but offer a lot in diversity. Go with someone who knows the trails on a hot day and you can ride HARD, freeriding applicable in places but bring an extra lung for the extra bike weight, there are a couple places to take a little dip in the water. It is worth the drive.

, from N. Stonington, CT, USA Summary: I was introduced to this trail a year ago and I consider it one of the best in CT. This trail is not for someone who is out of shape or looking for an easy ride. You start with a short steep climb which promptly turns into a long technical climb. The trail is mainly double track, with some nasty single track that comes off it. This trail has some awesome views and gives the feeling of being in Vermont more than CT. Just be ready for some very rocky down and up hills, but the downs are what makes this trip worth it. If you are a conditioned rider and want a challenge take this trip, and as a bonus the trails are almost always empty. Recommended Route: Take 95 to exit 82 on rt. 85. Follow that all the way to route 11. Take route 11 till it meets up with route 2. You'll take the first exit 18 (about two miles) on to route 2. Make a left off the exit ramp past a gas station and follow road (route 16) for about ten minutes you'll drive down a long hill and at the bottom a parking lot and covered bridge will be on your left. Turn in and get ready. Ride your bike over the bridge and double back towards river and follow trail. This trail is basically a point and back trip. Other recommended trails in the same area: Bluff Point, Millers Pond, Arcadia & Mt. Tom
