Death Ridge

This is a great trails. Tons of great climbs. Lots of logs, roots, ravines, gorges, creeks, plenty of places to get yourself killed or mamed. Don't go after heavy rain, you will regret it as you send the rest of the day washing yourself and your bike. The is a ridiculous about of bugs and spider webs. If you aren't fast enough the horse flies will eat you alive. Hope you like poison ivy and lots of thorns. Enter at your own risk...

Summary:
I learned to ride on the Sweet Williams trail around 1990. Fun fast and easy single track with some challenging (but nothing like the Chubb) climbs. The trail was much more fun when the bridges were intact. They were tore up when the university decided they did want the liabilty mountain biking brough with it. Back when I lived in Granite City these trails were very close. As a warm up/ cool down, I would rec some of the MCT trails.

Recommended Route:
Log Jam to the east (right) of the soccer field entrance is as technical as this easy trail gets. THis is the faster direction.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Chubb/Klondike/Silver Lake

Summary:
I have ridden this trail for ten years and will miss them. Never heard em called death ridge. Heard em called Sweet Wiliams trails and they was closed by the biolgy dep. There are trails that will be made by GORC. They'll be located buy the cross country trails (MRF theater). They'll build this new trail starting in feb. and will need all the help they can get. For more info go to kellerhayes.com/gorc.

Summary:
I heard this trail is now closed because of the Biology Dept. Is anyone familiar with the cross country trail that runs through the flying field/old Mississippi River Festival sight? Just wondering if there is an area to ride back there. I've never rode it since they have a sign saying it's closed but the rating is required to post a comment.

Summary:
These are the best trails around without a doubt. Unfortunately, SIUE decided that they are no longer open. Each entrance has a sign planted in the middle that says "Trail Closed no trespassing, bikes will be confiscated. Its left me with no where to ride when I'm at school.
