Weekend Warrior Summary: This is my hometown trail. I try to ride this one 2-3 times per week. Some of the steep climbs have been bypassed due to the hard work of several volunteers. Hats of to those guys. Nice combination of singletrack and firelanes. Fast when it is dry and a little more challenging if it is wet. Lot of roots to watch out for. Overall an easier ride in the clockwise direction. Recommended Route: I either begin at the trailhead at the bottom of the hill after coming in the main entrance. Begin on the foxey hollow and head to the firetower then back around. Another favorite is to begin at the firetower and smoke down the hill on the kyana trail and head back the twin lakes on around the lake.

Racer Summary: I just rode this trail as part of the Dino Series. All I have to say is Ferdinand is a true test for any single speed rider. Don't bring your SS unless you want to die. The down hills are incredible and make up for the excruciating knee busting climbs. Definitely a must ride. Do yourself a favor and try to avoid 90 degree weather. This trail will make you feel like a wimp at times. Check it out.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Bring your granny - and your climbing legs! Great trail. Nothing really techinal about the trail but the climbing and descending more than make up for it! The trail has a good flow to it and is very well marked. The map of the trail is pretty accurate as well. Ferdinand State Forest mtb trail is probably the best kept secret in Indiana.

Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail is really outstanding, but some of the climbs were tough for me, there were some fallen trees in the middle of a steep up hill and I had to stop to drag my bike over the tree and couldn't start ridding again because of the steep grade. I had to drag it to the top of the hill. What a work out! I love this place. Start at the trail head and go south and up on the ridge with a great view of the lake, past the campground then back up past some more small lakes and up past the fire tower[what a view] and back down to the trail head. I great ride. Maybe because I'm from West Palm Beach the climbs bothered me more than it would the locals, but a great work out! Recommended Route: Go in the entrance to the park past the pay booth about 1/4 mile, trail head on the right, Maps in the tray on the sign. Other recommended trails in the same area: None ridden

, from Marion, IN Summary: First off I loved it. I am originally from Ferdinand, so when I visit home once a month it will be well worth riding everytime. Maybe I am out of shape, but I have ridden in Denver CO., and then this summer the Tsali trails in North Carolina, and this trail made me more tired then both those places. I think if they made more trails and looped them in one direction and made the uphills wind up a little more this could be some of the best trails anywhere. The downhills are great so if they made loops going in one direction, and then made the uphills a little more winding they would be great. Plenty of room for many more miles of trails as well. i don't know who I need to talk to about these suggestions but this place could be great. As it is it is very fun and well worth a drive, mine is 4 hours. In the end maybe I just need to be in better shape, and you will need to be too.
