from scott city go north until you hit the scott park turnoff. There will be a sign at the turnoff.then follow the road 3 miles to the entrance. there will be a pay station. it will cost you $4.00 to get in. Ask for a map of the park and then go park your car at any campground. Then go find the trail. Its pretty easy to find.

Summary:
Love this trail, I've ridden it several times and every time I ride the trail it gets better. Its single track, and very will worn in by horses. I have also had the chance to ride it all muddy and dry as pavement, both times were great. Be careful for posion ivy and spiders. This trail is not for the weak. Also if u get a chance ride to the little house on the top of the canyon and ride it back down. Good Rush! Have Fun.

Recommended Route:
After you pay dump the car off and take the trail that was right of the pay booth.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Arkalon Wild Life Park, about 7 or 15 miles out of liberal on H-54. Looks kinda stupid, but if you get to exploring it's like a mini canyon.

Summary:
Scott State Park is small but perhaps one of the most diverse eco-systems of the great prarie "desert" that makes up western KS and Eastern CO. Trail is well worn from horse traffic and can be bumpy. There are some short very steep draw crossings that will require a few trips through to gain downhill confidence. Be prepared to dump the bike at least once. There are two sand crossings that I have yet to master. One is deep sand for about 2 meters with a sandy uphill and a log for a finale. Scenery goes from badlands, to cliffhanger to sherwood forest in 7 mi. If you are a beginner be sure to develop your basic handleing skills first.

Recommended Route:
Start just south of Self-pay station on N Lakeside drive. Be careful on first steep downhill, it dumps onto a paved main access road. Clockwise has easier climbs.

Summary:
This trail is also used by horseback riders, so it is VERY bumpy and this makes it difficult to pick up any real speed. Be sure to have water, there's not a lot of shade and can be quite an aerobic excercise. There are bugs and sticky, prickly plants galore, so be prepared.
The trail orbits the lake and can get a bit muggy. To cool off, ditch the bike and spend the energy to climb up to the top of a plateu and catch a good Kansas breeze and view. Well worth it. You'll usually get to spot some hawks and maybe even a snake or tarantula!

Recommended Route:
Clockwise
