Shunga Creek Dirt Trail
3 reviews
 1.67 of 5

The trail meanders through the woods beside the creek and has several branches. There is an area where bikers have built numerous jumps and overall dificulty ranges from easy to moderate. There are also more trails south of the paved Shunga Trail and north of the Veterans Hospital grounds beginning just east of the soccer fields there. These trails are grassy and a lot more work to pedal.

Short and dull.

If you don't live in the neighborhood don't try this trail; it's not worth the time to rack your bike.

Summary:
I'm very curious and that is what compelled me to drive down here from Lawrence one day. This is a very easy and smooth dirt singletrack that runs along the creek. From what I found, it ran about 1.5 miles before it petered out into a mess of weeds. Absolutely nothing remotely technical, I counted about one rock. Some kids are building a small BMX course along the side of the trail, I wouldn't try it on your mountain bike. If you are into BMX you may to check these out. There are some cool limestone rocks to practice trials on near the trailhead. I had the most fun on these. I would recommend this for a ride with your girlfriend, otherwise don't waste your time. I give it one tire for the trial rocks, one tire for the kid's BMX park and one more tire for it being dirt.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Clinton, Perry, Landhal(in missouri)
