Summary:
Basically one long climb with few flat or downhill sections(very few). Trail surface is mostly composed of jagged, craggy rock outcroppings. That's rock as in solid rock, not loose rock. I rode this trail alone but very cautiously. In retrospect I would advise riding this one with a buddy in case of an accident.
Overall, an excellent training trail if you want some experience in picking your way through twisted rock gardens. The good news? The return trip back down the hill is incredible, hold on tight!

Recommended Route:
Above instructions are perfect for finding trailhead. Once there, walk bike up first hill (it is very steep) then hop on and climb trail to picnic bench on Chubb. Turn around and rocket to the bottom.

Summary:
Long climbs, rolling descents, great views, and it connects to the Chubb.

Recommended Route:
I like to alternate between climbing the hill and descending it.

The Grotpeter, the Lone Wolf, and the River Scene at Castlewood St. Pk. are great. Don't miss the DeClue at Greensfelder, and the Matson Hill Trail in St. Charles.
