Ridden Trail: Once a year

Cross Country Rider Summary: I rode Mahoney's trails a few times in the mid-nineties, and recently returned for a look-see. Bottom line-it sucks now. Mahoney once held some pleasant surprises for those adventurous enough to seek them out. Now most of the trails have become nearly impassable due to lack of maintenance. The main hiking trail, along the river's edge, is still rideable, but was never too great to begin with. It's got some decent single-track, but there are a couple spots where you'll have no choice but to dismount and climb. This trail has also become overgrown in spots. On the upside, Mahoney's water park kicks ass, although the crowds are getting insane. Recommended Route: 5 miles east, to Platte River State Park. Other recommended trails in the same area: Platte River, Swanson Park, Lewis and Clark

Weekend Warrior Summary: Mahoney State Park has a short but exciting trail. Great views of the Platte River from up on the bluff. The ride is not long (only a mile or two), but run it a couple of times for a good workout.
