Ridden Trail: Every few months

Weekend Warrior Summary: This trail has a collection of challenges. Crazy steep and loose, sketchy off balance side hill with tight turns, roots and drops, swooping awesome singletrack with the brush shreding your legs, rocky creek bottom somewhat tech stuff, an awefull and stupid uphill section, a surprising challenging finish to Joy Lake Rd. Recommended Route: The best place to start is just off the paved spur road that goes from the Mt. Rose Hwy. to "East Bowl" of the Mt Rose Ski Resort. As you travel south on this road you need to look for a pull out area to the left.(the guard rail has some black paint on it). You start right on the other side of the guard rail and straight down the hill. When the trail levels out bear left under the power lines and down the draw. Good luck riding this next part because it is looser and steeper than the start! Eventually the trail dumps you out at a weird structure in the middle of no where. Free-riders have built some challenges around the structure. Bear right and down the hill to a dirt road with a parking area. Turn right(south)and go about 1/2 mile on the dirt road. Look for the single track to start on your left. Follow this to the bottom of the trail. This is the best part of the trail!!(sign for St. James Village at the bottom). Sorry but you'll have to climb out of here. Climb the "trail of tears" northwest untill you hit the top of the ridge and then north towards the finish at Joy Lake Road. (I think this is the new Browns Creek Trail) I recommend you shuttle. Other recommended trails in the same area: Tyrolean downhill. Hidden Valley trail.

, from Reno Summary: Full suspension and 8" of travel is definately recomended. This trail makes Mr. Toads look like a sidewalk in the park. It's not very long, but it's definately challenging. Recommended Route: Up Mt. Rose Highway you'll see it before you get to Mt. Rose Ski area. Other recommended trails in the same area: Shirley Lake Canyon out of Squaw (wear body armor)
