Ridden Trail: Once a month

Weekend Warrior Summary: Things have changed alot since the last review in 2003. I rode the East and West trails with a group of locals and found both loops to be fun and in excellent shape. Since the most recent Norba event, the trails are now being ridden in the opposite direction. Since this was my first ride, I could not tell much difference. The ride was balanced with twisty single track with some technical creek crossing sections that could be hit with good speed and momentum. Everything is one way so I found it comfortable to ride jamming with my IPOD. Total distance for both loops was 19.1 miles, so you can get a good workout. I give the trial a 4 for Aerobic if you do both loops at a fast pace.
I found the system to be kinda similar to Warda, but longer. The ride is good enough for me to drive out from Houston and I will add it to my once a month out of town ride schedule. The local club rides on Sunday at 2:30 - 3:00 PM and everyone is hospitable. Good group of folks to ride with. I would also recommend waiting a few days after rain since this trail is at a lake. Recommended Route: Ride both the East and West loops. The person commecting the money at the entrance will give you a map.

Weekend Warrior Summary: The east trail is a decent trail considering it is in a pretty flat part of Texas. Its fast, well marked, with a few technical sections. The west trail is overgrown with chest high weeds, not maintained, and imposible to follow in many places. Ride the 9 mile east trail and skip the west. The East Trail has a few technical sections with some very small drops (1-2 feet)and a few log crossings. Other than that, its pretty much twisty single tract. Recommended Route: East Trail Other recommended trails in the same area: Rocky Hill Ranch - Smithville TX

Cross Country Rider Summary: I just moved from N. Cal. Nothing impresses me. However, there are some endearing aspects about this place. Although many of the trails are grown over and need maintenance, it is apparent that they are well thought out. Lots of tight turns. I got the feeling I was the first to ride this area in a while, because of all the siderwebs I hit.
The area would benefit from increased signage; I got lost a few times (I ended up at the "Last Chance Lounge" on Mumford road, then the Coca-Cola bottling plant-my bad!).
My advice is to park on the road and savev yourself the $5 entrance fee. It's a no-brainer!

, from Arlington Summary: This trail is a great beginner trail. Once you ride it more then a few times it gets extremely dull. IT is a very fast running bit of single track, so ride it hard. A few jolt climbs, nice tight turns, some sandy sections. Not a very technical trail, but, hea, what else are you going to ride in this area. Recommended Route: East Loop Other recommended trails in the same area: Rocky Hill
Cameron park
both within 1 hour and 30 minutes

, from Houston Summary: You may get a flat on the West Loop. The levy is also pretty exhausting if you are not fit(like me). The East was pretty exciting, I will come back again just for that. Recommended Route: East Loop
