Cross Country Rider Summary: nice trail....intermediate mostly. the 2 mi. section adjacent to TH would take advanced rider to finise the whole section. lots of opportunities to take air. lots of short ledges to jump up. probably one of the funnest 2 mi. of trial in texas.
section parallel to road from north to south loops should be called Stegasauras Spine as it is one long rock garden.
8 mi. total. 2 mi. advanced. 70% shade. TH sign and map. no markers on trail. easy to navigate.
good, fun, ride.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Nice trail. Twists, turns, small drops, small climbs, lots of hard pack, a few rock gardens, and lots of trees. I was able to ride most of it on a rigid single speed. Some gears and suspension would be fun on this trail. It reminded me a lot of Muleshoe. Other recommended trails in the same area: Muleshoe, Reimers Ranch, Pedernales State Park

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a great trail to ride and is very unique. Imagine just riding through an rough undeveloped area in the Hill Country. The ride is like a new exploration even though there are some areas of the trail that man power was used to make it look like a trail. There are some nice jumps and a few technical spots. I would recommend that you use a full suspension bike because the ride can get rough at times. The first time I road this trail I used a hardtail but it was pretty rough. Also bring an extra tubes because there are some very sharp rocks. Recommended Route: Only One way to go

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is a nice trail. I also got lost in a few of the asphalt sections so a few more markers would be appreciated. I like the beginning and how the trailbuilders didn't wuss out about including the drops. They always make the trails more interesting in my opinion. Towards the end as you go along the boat storage is a bit sketchy but it is short lived and adds to the diversity of the trail.
There is now a pizza place in the strip center on the other side of the entrance. Good pizza. Nice guys running it. Recommended Route: The only way. Other recommended trails in the same area: Flat Rock Ranch.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Different trail. Parts of it are really fun, and others are just wierd. In the beginning you're winding through trees at about 5 mph making so many consecutive turns you would think the trail builders had to fit as many miles of singletrack as they could into the area they were given. Either that or the "speed of the trail" in their heads was faster than it actually is when you're on a bike. It's kind of amusing for a while, but then you just get the urge to go fast and get somewhere. The constant turning had me wondering where the heck we were, but in the end I guess it's not a big deal. The rolling hills (dirt mounds) through the old concrete picnic facilities was really fun. Most of the trail is well groomed. Some parts could use some attention and the last part of the trail had me thinking the trail builders were starting to get tired. But I've never designed or built a trail so maybe I should stop nit-picking.
There could be a few more trail markers here and there in my opinion, to make it easier to understand where to go. We never got lost but we dismounted several times to stop and think. Sometimes there are pathways that go nowhere. Deer trails? Connections between routes that I couldn't yet understand? I think there were little yellow flags marking the trail through the weed-infested asphalt sections, but somebody needs to put permanent markings there. Asphalt doesn't show wear and yellow flags will not last forever. Neither will yellow tape wrapped around a low-hanging obtrusive branch. Just cut the branch down or build the trail a few feet away.
The views of the lake are nice, and I would certainly consider riding in swim trunks during the summer. Yeah, the suggestion of riding in swim trunks seems to descredit the trail as a serious mountain biking destination, but that's the perception I have of the trail. Not great for a workout, but I live in Colorado. Maybe it's because I was always stopping to think about where we were. Maybe it's because I'm acclimated to the higher elevation of Denver and use less oxygen when I ride. Maybe I'm just in awesome physical shape. Don't think that's the case... I don't know. One of the guys in the parking lot seemed to be getting a workout. Checked his blood-sugar levels and everything. Wow. Recommended Route: I think there's only one way to go. Other recommended trails in the same area: McAllister Park in San Antonio.
