Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Weekend Warrior Summary: The trail is open and has been for quite some time now. I found this to be a fun trail that if you've ridden all the major trails in the area, this is a good one to check out. Not at the top of the list but still fun to do. Our group were on single speeds to 6" travel bikes. I think the 6" bikes were overkill unless you ride a light one. Just cause it's a mostly downhill trail, this is not a downhill bike run.
The beginning part is a techy climb switchbaking up a hill for about 1 mile. No fun for me but i am no climber. Then it goes to flat/downhill sections with lots of lava rocks waiting to tear off a derailluer. Kind of technical but nothing major. As you progress down the trail you find sections where you can pick up some serious speed. You don't want to fall here- off the trail looks like a cabbage patch of baby head lava rocks.
The last section is a steep straight line. Nothing to worry about. Lots of fun and i would do it again. Recommended Route: See above or below

Cross Country Rider Summary: This little trail was a suprise as no one told me much about it. I found it to be very fun although not to technical and the climbs were realitively mild, but the downhill section/s were real fun. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to ride this one again as there are so many other good trails in the area, but if you're staying in St George and are looking for a short ride of 1 1/2 to 2 hours this is worth the trip. I finished it in 1 hr 15 min. and I took a couple breaks riding hard, but not a killer pace.

Downhiller Summary: This trail is awesome. Its starts out with some sweet switchbacks that climb up onto the mesa. Then its all downhill from there! Good stuff! Ive never seen another rider when i do this trail. I love the solitude! GREAT TRAIL! I recommend full suspension as the trail gets really bumpy about half-way down. Recommended Route: Park at the water tower and ride up the dirt road. Or if you have a shuttle you could park a car in Middleton, never tried it, but it would work good. Other recommended trails in the same area: Church rocks. All trails in Green Valley (except Bear Claw Poppy). Cholla II Challenge Loop in Warner Valley. The Red Hill and Green Valley for technical/freeride.

Cross Country Rider Summary: We started at the water tower and took the road up to the trailhead. Do the ride - don't drive up. The uphill is a tough, technical climb, but the down is well worth it! A special shout-out to my riding partners - Jenny & Damon. You two rock! Jenny saw a desert tortious beside a rock on the final downhill. Very cool.
We ended a week of riding with this ride and loved it. The road back to the water tower sucked though - very sandy!
Also super thanks to the bike owners in St. George. Both bike shops (one downtown and one out by the grocery store) were super helpful and fixed up my wounded bike! The shop out by the grocery store was very helpful and gave us awesome trail maps and great suggestions - thanks! Recommended Route: Start at water tower, ride up the road, and rock & roll! Other recommended trails in the same area: Stop at the bike shop by the grocery store, chat with them, get the trail maps and hit em all!! Must do Gooseberry Mesa though!
