Trail Directions
As you are on Summitview Ave (in Yakima), head west till you are by Summitview Ext. and the Cowiche area. Once you go up and down the other side of Summitview, you shall see a vet. clinic and a road. Turn right on the road and follow the road till you see a sign that says "Cowiche Trail".... In order to get to the trail, you have to climb from the canyon floor too the top of the hill. There are two exit and enterances, the enterance on the east side of the canyon is much easyer to climb than the enterance on the west side... good luck and have fun!

Summary:
Rode these trails in early April this year. Not sure whether it was just the change of scenery or if it was the trails, but it did seem worth the 2 hour drive from King County. The trails for the most part are hardpack sand/dirt and full of gentle swoops and berms. On top and away from the canyon, the trails are mostly gentle with some long gradual climbs/descents and a couple of whoop-de-doos. The main fun was had on the two trails that descend into the canyon. Nice switchbacks, a moderate degree of technical riding in spots, and fast. THe middle trail in and out of the canyon is a hike-a-bike on the way up and kind of sketchy on the way down, but definitely rideable.

Recommended Route:
Start by dropping into the canyon via the long trail on the right and ride along the bottom to the next trail on the left. Push the bike up it to get a feel for what you'll be trying later. After that, explore the upper trails and those in the other corner of the park. Wrap up the day with that nasty descent and a thigh-burning climb back up the trail you initial rode down.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Not Sure.
