Cross Country Rider Summary: This is long beautiful flowing ribbon of joy. Mostly down hill from Capitol Peak with 1 climb after about 6 miles. A few switchbacks but nothing difficult. If you have some basic skills you will be fine. The trail was dry and mostly hardpack in Aug 2005. Recommended Route: I parked at the parking lot on Walden rd and climbed up C7000 once and the 2nd time I got my sister inlaw to shuttle me to the top. I follwed the Greenline #6 signs back to the Margeret Mckenny campground and took Walden Rd back to the car. Other recommended trails in the same area: There are tons of trail in Capitol Forrest and I only got to sample it this trip, but I plan on going back to do some exploring.

Downhiller Summary: Maps of the area now cost $2 and can be bought at the Olympia National Forest station on HWY 101 just west of Olympia town. Green Line #6 (actually, green line #6A) trail ends at the McKenny Campground, so it is best to park around there. Ride the forest roads to the top: C-Line to C-4000, then a skirt off to the top if you want to get to the radio towers. The climb up is about 6-7 miles, Green line #6 is an awesome 15-mile singletrack that drops back to the bottom. However, don’t be surprised my the extra climb after about six miles of downhill. Near the end follow signs for McKenny camp and trail #6A. Overall this trail is well-marked, however the signs are sometimes a bit hidden.

, from Olympia, Wa Summary: This trail is 'made for mountain biking' and almost groomed in the beginning but beware; steepest grades to come with a multitude of varying terrain to negotiate. Bring at least 100 ml for hydration due to the length and challenging climbs. Great view of Rainier at the summit and an excellent time for a cliff break... Recommended Route: Delphi-CF-C-line-C-8000-Fall Crk Other recommended trails in the same area: Mount Molley/ Porter #3; Middle Waddle Loop
