k2 trail-- tight twisty techical single track some northshore (skybridge and teeter totter)advanced levels. GOOD PLACE TO PRACTICE peters trail-- freeride, northshore, techical. some extreme stuff HUGE sky bridge. drops. IF YOU CANT RIDE IT DONT TRY IT. it just screws it up for the people that can.
Head south from North end of the island and stay on Vashon Hwy, til you get to the third 4-way stop and take a left. follow that rd. and stay left when the road forks, go down the curvy hill, you will then be on the water. follow that rd. for about 5.5-6 miles. you will pass an old fashioned gas station and a golf course, but keep going straight. eventually you will go down a long hill, and be on the water again, by a park. park there and go across the street to the trail head. ride up the trail staying left. all the way up the long straight gradual up hill.
Summary: DJ's rebuilt.
New DH trail.
Whoever built the very low quality bridges should take responsibility and tear 'em down, my freind hurt himself on one.
Recommended Route: All over XC DH DJ MX in the pits!
Other recommended trails in the same area: DNR in town. All xc

Summary: On that road(heading uphill)... first left..straight downhill to the park(not worth it) second left..XC trails w/Gulleys, about 3 miles, hidden pond in there somewhere during winter. Third left(1/2 mile up road, next to corner)...Same XC trails, these stretch to the golf course First right...This trail goes into Peters trail(inconspicuous on the first right of the core trail), core trail also goes to everywhere else (dockton, sandy shores, gravel pit, gold beach) Second right... This trail is a shortcut around the fence/gate. Don't go on the gravel road, because you'll see the "No trespassing" signs, then you will "know it is illegal". Follow this trail, and take an inconspicuous right into the Blair Witch/Proflex, you will see a mound with a 90 degree turn on the top. If you take a conspicuous left of the top of the core trail though, you will be heading to the pits on the left, and sandy shores on the right. The proflex comes out where you went in (2nd right). 3rd right... go over hardpack mound, past little jump and stumps. ride along fence, turn right at the fences end. go left at short dual track for fast fire road that was cut in half by the 6 point quake, scary but easy, one foot drops. This trail craps out at the dock. You can then go back up the loose gravel fire road you came on. Or Through the sandy gravel pits (needs wide footprint, 25 psi, 2.5 inch tires). Or along the Beach to sandy Shores or Gold Beach, rocky part is most ridable, not sand, watch the tide. I don't suggest going down this trail at all... If you turned right at short dual track, go a few yards, then turn left, You will pass some great Vistas, This is the fastest hardpack/single track, goes 1/2 mile along side of old pits. You will be able to see the fire road below. Comes out at top of the active mining pit. If you take left at the four way, you go to high bluff. Right and you goto a very inconspicuous trail on the left, Summer only. Straight, and you continue on main trail. This ends at the top of the hole trail network, downhill every direction, Both Proflex/witch/peters accesible from here. If you get lost, go downhill, more downhill, and more downhill, then downhill on the road and you'll appear at dockton park.
E-mail me for a un-detailed map don't expect a response for 1 or 2 weeks.
Recommended Route: Goto Dockton park/marina/gravel lot. Whatever you call it, it is the same place. Don't ride up the trails, it kills your energy for the other trails. Go up the paved road to Gold Beach.
Other recommended trails in the same area: DNR/ vipco trails. On sunny days, not after rain. Across from Cemetery, up gravel driveway. Left to transfer station, Right to Valley Of The Firs/town
