some ORV Park
4 reviews
 4 of 5

There is some great riding at this ORV park. There are many trails and for the most part, the ORV's will not be a problem. There are some trails that are for mtn. bikers only that are singletrack. The other trails are a little wider. The trails are well marked and very fun. The terrain can be sandy in parts and there are rocks of many sizes all along the trail. Avoiding these is just part of the fun, but it can become tiring too. I don't see it as a problem if you ride full-suspenstion. There are many tight turns that are bermed. These trails reminded me of a log ride at an amusement park. There are no long hills to go up or down, but several short sections that are short up and downs. A great place to ride and many trails to choose from. It is dusty in dry weather.

Summary:
tons of trails to ride out here, all multi use though, watch out for orv users, the adults arnt bad but the kids arnt watching out for you. over all good trails, lots of fun, i could do without the sand and stone sections. i dont mind rocks, big rocks that is, or gravel, but the skipping stone sized ones covering whole trail sections really kills speed, same with sand. no big climbs, but some short steep ones, lots of puddles, expect to get muddy. roots and rock gardens are abundant, not many downed logs though do to the orv use. a few bridges here and there but that is about it for obstacles.

Recommended Route:
lake howell loop, mission creek.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
green mountian, banner forest

Summary:
Fun, not very technical, but the trails just flow. Short climbs followed by short descents make it easy to just go and go. Lots of little jumps in the trails. Silverdale Cyclery has great maps and you can easily string together a dawn to dusk ride by utilizing all of Tahuya State Park. Watch out for off-roaders, horses, etc. The best time to go is around 7:00 am on a weekend or during the weekday. Mission Creek is underwater following a good rain. Literally spots where your feet are underwater on the downstroke. Invest in gore-tex socks for winter rides.

Recommended Route:
Mission Creek Trail; Howell Lake Loop; Derailluer 2

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Green Mountain

Mission Creek Trail--This is sweet bermed goodness. No really horrible climbs, but you will get your legs burning on a few.

Recommended Route:
Go to Belfair and ask how to get there...

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Down south about an hour is Capitol State Forest.

Summary:
This area is called Tehuya -- It has miles and miles of trails -- many orv's -- most are courteous. It is a great place to ride. Maps are usually available at the trail heads.

Recommended Route:
Any will do.
